In the hours before President Donald Trump announced a 90-day partial pause on a slew of new tariffs on foreign goods, he said on social media that it was a "great time to buy."

One of his loudest allies in Congress was already poised to benefit.

A disclosure made public on Monday said Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene poured between $21,000 and $315,000 into the stock market on Tuesday and Wednesday, investing in 17 companies, including Apple, Elon Musk's Tesla, Nvidia, and Palantir.

Members of Congress are only required to disclose the ranges of their purchases — Greene made 21 different stock purchases, each valued between $1,000 and $15,000.

Trump's tariff pause announcement sent markets soaring on Wednesday, and anyone who purchased stocks in the final hours or days before Trump's post would have seen significant gains on paper.

Greene has said that she doesn't control her trades, telling Business Insider in a statement on Friday that she signed a "fiduciary agreement to allow my financial advisor to control my investments."

"All of my investments are reported with full transparency," Greene added.

The congresswoman's office did not respond to a follow-up question on Monday about whether she had advanced knowledge of Trump's tariff pause. In the wake of the market rebound, Democrats have suggested that Trump and his allies may have benefited from market manipulation.

There is no evidence to suggest this took place, but more could emerge from disclosures in the coming weeks. Members of Congress and executive branch officials are required to file disclosures within 45 days of making a transaction.

So far, Greene is the only member of Congress known to have bought stocks after markets tanked following Trump's initial "Liberation Day" tariff announcements. On top of these latest trades, Greene invested up to $285,000 in 17 companies on April 3 and 4.

I went hard in on Palantir and NVidia as well on the same day. The market had made a huge correction and was poised to go up. All of the dumb money had done what it was going to do.

NVidia had announced a huge investment in the US and Palantir is going into a lot of Gov systems.

This is a non-story, unless, she sold off a bunch of stuff just before liberation day. That said, none of this is a surprise, Trump was forecasting it.

Now, I agree, Congress should not be able to play stocks which they have advance knowledge of or an ability to influence through congressional action. But, it’s hilarious to me they’re focusing on $21k worth of trades and not Pelosi’s portfolio. Absurdly biased piece.

No proof she had insider knowledge. If it comes out she did then she needs fried . They will never condemn Pelosi or any other Democrat in office, nor most old Republicans who has been doing it for 100 years.

The issue is with members of our government, who dictate economic policy, being able to freely trade on the market. Sorry, but that is a conflict of interest. If you don't see it that way, then so be it.

It is a conflict for sure. People like Pelosi, Schumer, McConnell et al, have benefitted for over 40 years. Is it as big as the ones I just posted? They are worth 80-200 mill. I left out the fake Indian.

True and if Biden and the autopen wouldn't have made things so rough on everyone else others many more could have participated.

She didn't have to do anything. She signed it over to a Financial planner to handle. If true an Investigation will show She did nothing wrong. Others might have a harder time explaining though. Investigate them all.

Show me where I support Pelosi and her stock holdings? Besides, you harp on them so much that I don't have to.

I can show everyone where you attempted to incite violence on here against Trump, Musk, and Maga.

It's already been pointed out by DOGE that all of them are being looked into. What part of that don't you understand?

I agree . My understanding is she don't do any trading herself. I would like to see much of it be very restricted. Don't know how we could fairly do that , they do have a right to invest their income . How do think socialists like Bernie who has never done a thing becomes millionaires, it ain't by a honest living. Aoc is now rich after a short time in DC. How do we stop it ?

I think Democrats should keep raising hell about it. Great chance she can explain her actions being she's got a professional handling it for her. I want to hear some of their excuses after they are all Investigated. Including the RINOS.

But she has stocks. You are missing my point. Who cares about being "fair". These elected leaders control economic policies that impact the market. Their decisions will create ups and downs. Manipulation by definition.

EDIT: you are the reason I'm done with this place. It's beyond repair or recovery. It was once a place to ask questions about anything, have some common sense debate, and move on. Now it's full of your ignorant Twitter feeds and bot-filled responses. Have fun with it.

It was a rhetorical question. You haven’t been as vociferous over the past criminal behavior of our reps on both sides of the aisle, if she did it before everything was announced, she’s as guilty as everybody else in Congress. Give me people who made their money before going to Congress. They’re more trustworthy than those who made it while earning a very small salary. You don’t talk much about cause they align with your views.

I already agreed with you . My point is how do we stop them from investing? They could put everything in a 401k and let someone else handle it .... but who says they couldn't call them and give them a heads up ? It's been a problem probably before she was born that's why they stay for a life time

People can read for themselves and see what you were up to. If they see something they can say something. Terrorism isn't a joke. No matter how you try to twist it. You seriously need to go sit this out instead of attempting to drag people into your stupidity.

I think in general, we all agree. I assume you agree that the piece you posted was a hit piece on MTG and not an indictment of the overall issue you’re referencing. To the overall issue, you’d agree and support Trump’s push to stop it, then?

Trump has a long way to go to catch Obama and Biden in that area. What do you think the Wikileaks were about?

Obama got caught catering to the banks and wall street. His reward was "speaking engagements" to the tune of half a million dollars each from those same companies.

Financial institutions like IBY are critical to the Houthis’ efforts to access the international financial system and threaten both the region and international commerce. Treasury remains committed to working with the internationally recognized government of Yemen to disrupt the Houthis’ ability to secure funds and procure key components for their destabilizing attacks
