We beat Penn State and they are 1-3. And PSU seems more like what we expected them to be.
Don't get me wrong, I thought PSU and MN were doormats this year. UNL not so much. And they are not. But there's this idea that playing against the bottom teams is an automatic easy win. And it's not. That's what made our 13 game losing streak last year so mind boggling.
When you are, probably, up to 16 years old the team that is expected to win, almost always wins. After that, the differences are smaller and smaller. You go up against weaker teams, and they still know how to play. You don't bring your A game against a team that knows how to play and, even if you are better, you are going to be disappointed.
Note on IU. I think Woodson did a terrific job in keeping the team together and even making the roster more balanced in the process. Furthermore, I have watched them play a few times and their defensive intensity is definitely improved. But man, is the maturity of their offense horrendous.
