Woodson, Burton, and Tamme aren't walking through that door.

Didn't say they were. And if you notice I qualified that statement Story made by clearing up the reason they succeeded. They had a coach that coached 4 quarters and had a game plan and made adjustments.

I'll never forget it seemed like week in and week out Brooks always repeated himself, "We want to be in a position to win in the 4th quarter." Damned if that wasn't the case many times. That changed the culture around our program for a few years.

We don't have the players with personality, character, or inner fortitude like those boys. They fought through adversity and put a squad on the field that fought.

Agree to disagree. Those kids put in a ton of work and want to win more than anybody posting on this website. It's not a matter of character or inner fortitude. It's a matter of poor defensive schemes and failure to make adjustments from the sideline. If Stoops had 1 glaring weakness this far it is his inability to adjust during games.

True but the light did not go on for Woodson until his JR year. We will probably never see another Keenan Burton as far a intense leader by example and someone who truly loved the game (maybe Kash on the defensive side ?). Tamme was almost like a big WR and will be tough duplicate.

I saw some glimmer of hope in Barker, lets be fair he is young and has only had a few starts.
We have more overall talent and depth at WR. I'm not saying any of these WR will play at the level of a Burton the whole game but talent is there.
I would think we can get some TE play out of Conrad, maybe HART or Rigg granted none of them will probably be as good as Tamme but we just need some solid TE play.
I just don't think we are that far off talent wise, maybe maturity, drive and desire but in all fairness they have to be able to be put in a position to win and if a coach or call does not help then thats no good either.

I don't doubt that they want to win. And I think the coaches are to blame but these players carry themselves differently. I wasn't upset at the players at all because I believe that everything falls back on numero uno
