The offense is just a mess. No identity whatsoever and another year with a bad OL. Mateer is proving to be overhyped and Arbuckle looks lost.
Not that its going to happen but the remaining 4 games are winnable. Tennessee's defense is regressing, Alabama needed SC to give them a W, Missouri just lost their QB and LSU is dead in the water.
I personally think you have to run it back with a 2nd year with Arbuckle and Matter...however, if Brent can't find a way to win 2 of these next 4, I won't shed a tear if he is terminated. A meddling program wins 2 of the 4.
Brent may salvage his job but he's not it. He's a DC in over his head. Sucks because I really wanted to see him succeed.

I think we all want BV to suceed but sometimes things just don’t work out. At the same time, no matter how much he may be liked by many of our fanbase, in the end its about winning.
With all the job openings out there though I just can’t see OU terminating him even if OU finishes 6-6 again. Sure OU is a school that has high market ability and would be a destination job for many coaches available but by letting BV go, how many recruits in the wings fly the coop?
Might as well give him another year and if its the same as before then part ways with him. Tennessee D shows its not great so if Arbuckle struggles to produce a productive game plan here and Mateer misses open receivers then plenty of blame should go around.
However the D does not get a pass for the way it played this past weekend.
I would fire Murray, Finley, Arbuckle. Who's in charge of our run game?
Very good article below. I think its a fair assessment. For those that listen to Gabe and Teddy along with the KREF radio shows they are not hiding their feelings right now in regard to John Mateer. If your a Mateer fan and get your feelings hurt I would advise to stay away and not listen.

Only a few more games left to this Dismal year. And I have no idea who OU could hire for a head coach, that could turn this program around before they Deep Six me. Without a coaching staff change, I would expect the same results for next year. Maybe I'm spoiled from the Bud, Barry and Bob teams. They weren't perfect, but they put better teams on the field than what we as OU fans are getting now. Boomer !!!!!! Keeping BV here one more year is nothing more than rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

If Brent were to go, I’m not confident in finding a new coach that could significantly improve the program. Basically it’s a crap shoot.

These are not the times of Gary Gibbs! OU needs to clean house and strive for greatness. It's not the first time, that we cleaned house, but it's such a different culture than it was when we hired Stoops.
After tonight I think BV secured another year. Is that good or bad? I guess time will tell. It was a nerve racking game considering the boneheaded pass play called by Arbuckle with OU driving and eating clock. I still don’t understand what he was thinking.
