I sense that this loss will last for awhile. Riley is tied to the hip w/ Bob & Bob is still tied to the hip of the OU program. Firing Mike IMO, will place a huge strain on their relationship as Riley owes Bob tremendously.

But to let Mike hang around will place a huge strain on the team as well. The coaches, they know what's up. They see what's up. If Mike stays, I see some them leaving OU.

Going forward, it's going to get very interesting to say the least.

Well said, WNAS.
This loss and the Baylor game a week earlier also could be a hint that OU is really becoming a Texas Tech type of a program.....sexy offensive production to go with a defense that exists by name only.
Texas A&M lost to Alabama yesterday, but played hard the entire game against the best team in the country right now. The Aggies did not in any way embarrass themselves, losing 27-19.
TCU and WVA and Texas and K-State played two games for the ages, and each of the 4 teams showed me that OU is in trouble when they play them....big time.

Sure Riley owes Bob, but if Riley senses any type of pressure to retain Mike because of his relationship with Bob then it's prolly best that Bob just remove himself completely from the program.

This makes the most sense of course, but until or if Bob gets another HC job, he's all OU. He's going to be a non paid consultant for quite awhile IMO.

Is it possible Riley would respond to a stadium full of FIRE MIKE signs? Public pressure seems to work in every other sphere of life....

It could happen but the next game is in the Cotton Bowl. Personally speaking, that's not a game I would be involved with displaying a sign like that. Actually, any road game. I think the media is going to grill the crap out of the program until he's gone. Pressure will mount.

I think Mike is here till the season ends and then he's gone. Just sucks because we wasted a real contending team.

We move on next year, see who Riley brings in, then find out what the future holds. Need to start by landing a top 10 defensive tackle.

Hey Riley, I'll do the job for $15 an hour and a regularly stocked fridge of Michelob and Camel menthol silvers... You won't regret it bub.

It won't be tied to anyone if mike doesn't go next year as he will be fired by then.
