No way in hades should we lose to the Gamecocks or Dores this year...especially playing at home.

Those two teams are not good football teams at all.

Maybe we should wait until UK actually plays before we make statements like the OP. I've watched a lot of bad football for the past 45 years and I've seen plenty of UK teams consistently play down to their competition. So, excuse me if I don't think we have many automatic wins in the SEC - ever.

So when did UK cross over into the world of being able to handle any SEC team easily? It must have been that 4th win last year that made you turn the corner. Vandy's QB is horrible........other than that, they are fairly solid. Had SC's receivers, who are supposed to be talented, been able to catch a cold in the first half, SC's offense would have moved the ball. But make no mistake, UK has not shown any flash of crossing over into a championship team that "should beat easily" any other SEC team. JMO

I'm sorry I offended the resident gamecock fans.

Again, I'm not saying UK has automatic wins but if we expect to turn a corner..absolutely no way we should lose to either one of those teams. Vandy has a putrid offense just like last year and a very solid defense...but nothing damning.

Gamecocks are poor offensively all around. Edwards lived up to his recruiting but not a lot there. Defense is just ok overall.

That's just my take..be offended if you want ...congrats on the win. They all count and all you need is 6 in the end to make progress.

Considering we have a losing record against South Carolina (9-17) and the series against Vandy is TIED, YES TIED, UK fans should never pencil these games in as wins. Good opportunities, yes. Guaranteed wins, no.

I thought the Vandy defense was formidable ......lateral persuit was an indication of their speed. Clearly the USCjr offense may have assisted the Dores' offense looking better than they are, but I would not discount either opponent after the first game.

Game 1 for them and us, too

Having said that, people shouldn't assume we are gonna lose, either

I do loosely predict we have some fun in the post season though

We will have beaten your *** 3 years in-a-row this year.

Alas, you are correct. No team will ever compare to that one USC team that made that one SECCG that one year, that one time. Best runner-up ever.

I'm not talking or predicting anything this year. I'm superstitious and I don't want to jinx us by saying anything.

Those first game rust and jitters can sometimes be hard to knock off.

I agree with you but don't take anything for granted. We haven't even played yet ourselves. And, while those two teams didn't look very good last night we still have something to prove ourselves and first games of the season don't necessarily dictate how those teams will look when they come to Commonwealth. Let's wait to see how we look too in our first outing. I want to win those games badly but can't get too far ahead of ourselves and just assume we will.

I think Vandy has a pretty solid defense. If we lose to either team I would bet on it being them based on that alone. They kept a lot of pressure on South Carolina qb's during the game.

Same thing I was thinking before last night's game and after watching it. Vandy's defense could be trouble for us and can't be overlooked. I feel we could have a pretty good season this year but we will have to play up every week and not tail off like we have in the past two seasons.

People put way too much into ballgames after 1 game positively or negatively. Teams on Sept 1, typically won't be the same team 3 weeks later. You can't place identity on teams after 1 game. Vandy and USCjr continue to be games UK can win. Nothing that happened yesterday changes that opinion for me but they could also lose to one or both of these teams.

South Carolina and Vandy probably are thrilled that the SEC doesn't have relegation. Because they would be fighting it out in the Sun Belt trying to get promoted back into the SEC next year.

Didn't South Carolina have 4 or 5 players suspended for the Vandy game? Kentucky, if they are improved over last year, should beat these two teams, but nothing is a given. Ask Tennessee. If the ball bounces differently on the endzone fumble, they likely lose last night.

If Stoops cannot field a team that can beat both these teams at home in his fourth year at UK, it's very likely he is not the right coach that will take this program to a level we have not seen in 40 years.

And UK has a Sagarin NC ring. What do you want from me? Time constraints on bragging rights?

Look, the LAST person I'll accept a know-your-place speech from is a gamecock. They may be above us in the gutter, but they're still not eye-level with the sidewalk to be talking trash.

Gamecock fans.
Entitled like Alabama but trophy case like Vanderbilt.
Honestly, Carolina and their fans are the worst, that week on this board is terrible.

I only saw bits and pieces late in the second half. REALLY tough loss for the offensively impaired 'Dores. Only real impression was Vandy appears to have a pretty good defense but will struggle to score in skeleton drills.

Don't know what to think about SC other than they are capable of winning a close one with a 50 yard+ FG. Question is: "Can they stay close to anyone other than Vandy"?

Peace

Hard to tell the quality of a team after the first game....let alone 2.

These teams will look much different a month from now but yes, these 2 games are very winnable. Let's just say their Ds are ahead of their Os.

Did hope you watched Vandy's LBs, they're very good and likely better than anything UK can put on the field.

As much as I hate to say it, UK has, over the decades, shown a penchant to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory against even the most mundane opponents. No W is safe against vandy or USC until the clock has all zeroes and both teams are safely on their respective buses.

I think our offense will be good enough this year to put more than enough points on the board to beat both Vandy and USC. Don't forget, USC didn't have much of anything returning skill position wise (unless you count Orth?).

In turn, Vandy's offense also looked pretty atrocious - which bodes well for our defense.

We beat USC at their place last year....they lost quite a bit, we didn't. We play them in Lexington this year.

We will beat them this fall - hands down.

If we don't, it will be a loooong season in Lexington this fall.

We finished #4 in the nation two years ago. That was prefaced by two previous top 10 finishes. And that team you mentioned was no where close to our best team. So when was it KY finished ranked in the top 10 again?

But hey, good luck with your usually tough game vs Western KY or Southern Miss or whoever you're playing. I stand corrected.......KY is a football powerhouse now.

We barely beat EKU and ULL last season and now we're talking about Vandy and SC being easy wins.

Yeah, o.k.
