This team needs to learn not to foul

The fouls in the second half tonight were just absolutely brutal. Pretty sure they were in the double bonus with more than 10 minutes to play. You just can’t do that against a team like Maryland. They ended up 26 of 29 from the line, while NU took just 13 free throws the entire game, including a handful when the game was already out of reach. I feel like this is what doomed the young 2014-15 team on the road against the Terrapins as well.

This was a painful loss. I hope the guys are able to compose themselves for Ohio State. It’s a winnable game, but NU is going to need a lot more from Buie and Beran. And way fewer fouls.

Buie not quite ready, you could tell how rusty he was. Hopefully on Sunday he's playing back to the level he was in December. Rest of the team just couldn't get enough loose ball rebounds in the 2nd half giving Maryland shot after shot after shot until they either got fouled or scored. Maybe the Saturday/Tuesday turnaround had something to do with it. Lots of those fouls looked ticky-tack to me.

Yep, Buie was far from his usual self. Let’s hope he gets back to where he left off sooner rather than later. I have to admit it’s unnerving to see him struggle and Spencer lead the charge and know Pat won’t be around next year.
