I’ve been thinking on this since the incident first broke and why it angered me. The reason it angered me is that it sends two messages to the community you’re trying to protest and serve. First, it says your life isn’t worth anything. And like it or not, Chauvin represented the entire force. Just like when I was uniform, I knew my actions or those of other Marines could taint all of us. I remember reading about a couple of Marines that raped some Okinawan woman back in the day and a lot of commentary surrounding it was that it was just par for the course. I didn’t like that my honor was being tainted by these two shitheads.

Second, it perpetuates a cycle. It’s an escalation of force in which the other side will escalate. What I mean is, with these encounters, they will become increasingly hostile on both sides of the equation. I think we all saw the video, Floyd was resisting arrest, twice. And let’s not forget, he was under suspicion of using counterfeit money. We’ve discussed his looooooong rap (sp?) sheet, to and including the incident with the pregnant woman. He wasn’t a good guy, I’d argue he was a complete piece of ****. But back to this second point, how many of these types of incidents are due to the overzealous policing from decades prior? To the point where both sides see each other as the enemy. One of my best friends told me when he was growing up in Gary, IN that he and his buddies used to play a game called “chase”, which was for no reason at all, they’d just take off running from a cop to see if they could get him to chase them. This was the 80s and since then we’ve had the War on Drugs which has completely escalated the amount of police interactions.

Lastly, I’m pissed because justice was denied. It was denied Floyd and it was denied the people of the US seeing that gentlemen arrested and incarcerated. This ******* robbed my nation of Justice because he murdered a would be conviction. That’s unacceptable.

Floyd doesn't appear to have been a good guy. Even bad guys deserve their day in court though (I know that you believe that too). I've heard people compare this to Emmet Till. Floyd was no Till by any stretch of the imagination. 1) Till was an innocent teenage boy killed by racists 2) we have no idea if race was any cause for Floyd's death.

The nation has been a powder keg for a while and I guess the Floyd incident was the spark that ignited it into what we have now. Not to forget that we have a lying government that doesn't blink twice at taking advantage of situations to benefit their agenda (both sides).

First of all dumbass, you can't even get the names of the people correct. No, George Floyd never resisted arrest. I've seen the video recorded with mobile devices by bystanders AND I've seen the video from the security cameras from neighboring businesses. Neither Floyd nor the guy in the passenger side of the car resisted arrest. Video shows both of them sitting on the sidewalk while handcuffed with their hands behind their back.

It was a counterfeit $20 bill. Jesus f'ucking Chirst. There is really not even a need to arrest someone in an instance like this. Identify them and send them a summons to appear in court. At that point, a judge can decide if he wants to impose a fine or sentence the person to incarceration. You really think they were going to incarcerate a man for passing a fake $20 bill? We know if it had been a white woman, she would have been fined and served no jail time.

You are a piece of ****.

You have zero clue what happened in that situation other than what you saw in one video and you are calling out someone else. This is why to a man everyone on here considers you a mental midget.

As to counterfeit bill. i do not know the facts of the Floyd encounter, will wait for the investigation and trial of Chauvin to learn the actual facts rather than depend upon media reporting and conjecture.

My mother (college educated, spoke three languages, incredibly smart) stopped in to her local bank, where she had banked for decades, and deposited some cash. A little while later, the Secret Service paid her a visit at home, as the teller had spotted a counterfeit bill in the cash she deposited. She had no idea it was bogus, and, thankfully, nothing came of it.

You do realize that dealing in counterfeit money is a felony? Do you also know that a shipment of counterfeit money ($900,000) was seized in the last 6 months going in the MN from China? It sounds like it is a major issue there and they are cracking down.

For sure it's serious. What I'd like to know is how he went from standing to lying on the ground with four men on him? Not that I think it changes the issue, but curious as to what happened that caused for men deciding they needed to subdue a handcuffed (behind his back) and put him on the ground.

We were in Ohio a couple of years ago and my MIL gave my daughter a old $5 bill that she forgot to give her years ago. She tried to buy something at a convenience store and they refused to take it saying it was counterfeit because it was not a new bill. They were going to call the cops until I got involved. Could have been me!

Over 30 black Americans were killed during 44th administration, I didn’t see any kneeling, but since it’s an election year, they really need that vote, kneeling doesn’t stop racism.

Regarding the topic? People have suffered under the law in a very brutal way. People pay for services like ambulance, police, fire fighters. Among all services police become abusers of power. They are servant to the public. Let's get it corrected and abuse no more

Not sure if we will see an increase in hostility on both sides, but I do think you'll see Police pull back in response, especially in communities where crime is an issue.

Let me find some counterfeit 20's and you can change them out for 10's. Then you can deposit the 20's in your bank. See how fast the feds come knocking on your door.

One thing that isnt going to go over well is this... does anyone ever look at things from a police officer's point of view?

Imagine - having to deal with the scum of the earth every day. White and Black. Old and young and everything in between. Little to no respect given to you anymore. People whining, griping, moaning, screaming, cussing, and just overall angry about everything and they are taking it out on you. Plus, never knowing if today will be your last one. What will happen to your wife? Your family?

So, isn't it understandable that a few of them, a VERY few of them, go off the rails? They are only human. This doesn't excuse what that officer did - that was murder. Doing it to get him into handcuffs is one thing - doing while he was already in cuffs is another. But, some people seem to want to justify robbing, looting, and criminal behavior because of some pent-up anger yet they fail to see the irony involved here. When you work in the sewers, you tend to see everything as a turd.

They want us to see things from the black perspective and walk a mile in their shoes. I completely agree with that. But, they also have to be willing to do the same from the police perspective. Maybe then, both sides will take steps to clean up their acts a little bit.

I can see that - but Chauvin supposedly had 18 incidents while on the job. The DA didn't prosecute and probably the Union protected him. He probably shouldn't have been on the job.

The police as a whole are not at fault for what happened, if anything people are forgetting Floyd was a drug user who was a criminal with health problems.

What about David Dorn, and why are places like Seattle on fire today?

Yep some seem to overlook all of that...chalk it up to getting even or collateral damage of righting all the wrongs of the past.

An attorney? With over 25,000 posts and on here seemingly 24/7? Either 1) he's not a good lawyer because he spends more time on a website than working cases or 2) he's got a lot of free time because nobody will hire him.

Damn right, but this is what happens when your Police Commissioner, Mayor, Governor, A.G., and former prosecutor are all liberals. It's very hard to find a Democrat who has the stones to take on unions.

What's utterly amazing about this post is that there are approximately 382 million people in our country. Only one nutjob………. DvlDog…….. is completely and thoroughly obsessed with the idea that our country/nation has been robbed of finding Floyd guilty of possibly passing a phony $20 bill. Forget these facts:

Dvl;Dog assumes all these hurdles would have been easily jumped/cleared:

Was a phony bill even passed?
Credibility of store owner? Somebody has to ID the defendants at trial
Were these the right guys? (DvlDog assumes that.....all blacks look alike)
What about a trial? Could the state prove its case?
Makeup of jury? Juries can do anything.

Instead...……...DvlDog ….attacks the past history of Floyd...…… much like defense lawyers do to a rape victim. Pretty disgusting & Racist.

In addition...…….. look at the video in detail as many times as you want...…… Floyd never, never, ever exhibits any sign of resisting arrest.

Pedaphile a person with an obsession with children as sex objects.

Pedophile an adult who is sexually attracted to young children.

Quit embarrassing yourself.
