Hey guys,
I have 2 tickets to the VT game and looking at tickets to the Vandy game. At the time of these games, my son will be 5 months old. Does anyone know if he would also need a ticket for entry to these games? I’m having a hard time finding any info.

In my experience, if they can sit on your lap, no. If you or wife has him in the kind of carrier you can wear, nobody's gonna say anything.

Common question, a infant is under 3 years old and should not need a ticket, per below link, I do recommend printing the page and having a copy with you in case someone taking tickets does not know. As far as Atlanta and the V Tech game, maybe check that stadium's policies? Im sure the below is just for Williams Brice.

I would have your friend print out the link, since they may still get hassled by someone who is unaware

5 months isn't an issue, but can you imagine bringing in a 2 year old and insisting to the person with the ticket next to you that they have to move to accommodate your child that doesn't have a ticket?

You can take a 5 month into Williams-Brice for free. I have no idea about Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

As someone who has taken a 7-month-old into Willy B, I'd strongly recommend finding childcare for the Virginia Tech game.

Or very good ear muffs. You should REALLY have those for a baby at a football game.

It's not even that as much as the fact a baby just won't make it through an entire 3.5-4 hour game. My son at 7 months had a good time looking around for a quarter and half, but we had to leave at the end of halftime. I was fine with it, because the whole point of going to that game was to take him and I had gotten a really good deal on a pair of tickets. You definitely can't go to the game and really pay attention to it likes you'd want to if you have an infant with you.

Taking a 5 month old to a college football game is poor parenting in my opinion. Your son won't enjoy or remember the game, you, or your wife, will not be able to enjoy the game as much having to tend to and care for a 5 month old and you will probably have to leave very early and the people sitting around you won't enjoy having a 5 month old sitting next to them.

If childcare isn't available, you need to miss seeing the game in person. Missing some things you want to do because you have children is part of being a parent. Also, people need to remember that the rest of the world does not find your child or your dog as adorable as you do.

Calling it poor parenting is extremely judgmental and not a valid criticism. Every parent should make the decision he or she feels is best for their children and family. Creating a memory with the youngest member of a family at a Carolina football game could be really important to that family.

I can tell you I'd rather have a 5-month-old sitting near me than a drunk obnoxious guy screaming profanities at the officials and opposing team the entire game.

Does this look like a photo of a child who didn't enjoy the game? Obviously he doesn't remember this game, but my wife and I do, and we enjoyed it.

Cute kid but he doesn't have a clue about what is going on and already has no memory of being there.

Thanks for helping me make my point. Your taking a young child to the game was about you and your wife making memories, not about the child's experience. If you really want to make a memory and an enjoyable experience for a child, wait until they are about 6 to 8 years old and have some knowledge about football and have some built up anticipation of going to their first game. The child and everyone involved will have a much more special time and the memories will last for the child.

I don't enjoy sitting next to obnoxious drunks either but that is a chance you take when you go to a live sporting event. If you want to be sure to avoid that experience, you really need to stay home and watch on tv.

It was about making memories for our family, which included our child. Obviously he doesn't remember that experience, but it was a fun day that we enjoyed (all of us, including our son). I gave more details about the experience in a post earlier in this thread.

You don't postpone life just because your child doesn't remember things. He doesn't remember his first zoo trip, but he sure had a lot of fun seeing the animals. He doesn't remember his first time eating a pickle, or a donut, or watermelon, but he sure enjoyed those experiences. He doesn't remember his first camping trip, but he sure had a blast being outside all weekend and sleeping in a tent.

There's some nuance to the decision to take a child to a college football game before he or she can remember the experience, and it's perfectly reasonable to decide not to take a child to a game.

It is not reasonable to say it's poor parenting to choose to do so, however.
