If he doesn't think he's ready to play then he shouldn't but I think it's really crappy of him to say he is playing Friday and then on Monday that he isn't. I'm sure a lot of his fans were waiting to see if he was going to play before buying tickets and only bought them to see him.

This is what happens when your parents force you into golf at such a young age. His body broke down on him early and he was unable to have a complete career. While obviously one of the greats, he could have been the clear-cut GOAT if he held up. He is part asian and good at math, so at least he has that going for him.

He's done unfortunately. Still the most sudden and greatest fall for an athlete that I can remember. #1 one day, then the next day is a complete train wreck. Bizarre and sad. Think it will be something talked about 30 years from now.

First off it was his dad not both. Second if you read any of the lengthy insider pieces on Eldrick over the last year you would know he broke his body down trying to play GI Joe with Navy Seals, not swinging lots of golf clubs.

Add OJ, Lance Armstrong, Mike Tyson and Michael Vick to your list.

I feel like Tigers is more severe in that it was completely physical moreso (and the scandal wasn't murder, rape, trying to eat an opponent, doping, or animal abuse it was infidelity). It would be like if Mike Tyson couldn't land a punch after winning the title a month earlier or Lance Armstrong not being able to finish in the top 50 of a bike race 3 weeks after winning the Tour De France. Tyson went to jail for a year, Armstrong and OJ were scandals after they had retired, Vick wasn't in the conversation for greatest football player of all time. It would be like Michael Jordan not being able to make a layup after his dad was killed. Just really bizarre how quickly he lost his golf skills.

I think Tyson is the closest comparison. Tyson was 23 years old and 37-0 (33 by KO) going into the Buster Douglas fight. He was being talked about being the next Ali, Joe Louis, etc. and looked unstoppable. Then he loses in a huge upset to Buster Douglas and Tyson says that his heart was never in the fight game again. One fight and the seemingly invincible Tyson is never the same.

The rape conviction happened a year an a half after the Douglas fight.

Any injury to your neck or back is a killer when playing Golf. Now try playing Golf at its highest level with a twice surgical repaired lower back, repaired left knee, and swing 120+ mph along with developing the yips.

The reality is that Tiger is like anybody else. He is human. Unless God himself heals Tiger and makes him 15 years younger it's highly doubtful he will ever play anywhere close to the level he once played at. Tiger may want to play Golf at its highest level again, but his body says something different.

My guess is he simply cannot sustain a high level of play for a full round. His driver is still all over the place and his short game is nowhere close to where he needs to be at. He knows it and decided to skip these events to avoid any embarrassment.

If I had Tiger's ear I would tell him that unless he is 100% convinced his mind and body has one more legit run left he needs to retire as a professional golfer. Get more involved with Golf off the course (may be buying Taylormade), continue to design more courses, and give back to the game by spending a lot more time trying to grow the game.

Interesting thought on Tiger getting out of the game and moving into the pure business side of the industry. If that's his plan--he may want to make the move sooner than later. The longer he waits and/or the more he tries to play--and plays poorly---will only lessen his marketability.

OTOH, he has more money than he can spend. Why bother.

Tiger's vertebrae wasn't his downfall, 'twas his insatiable quest for punani.

I really think your right. Tiger has been famous since he was two years old. But I don't think being 11 years old is to young if you really like to play. But then Tiger name is worth Billions so I guess that means he
did something right no matter how young he started. Anyone who saw Tiger with his Father knows he obviously loved him for all his support and that in Tigers mind, he never started playing to early.

Sounds like my game. The secret tour pro is sometimes on the money with info and sometimes pulls things out his arse. Bet he's right this time.

Did it have anything to do with the rumors that he was going to be paired with Phil? Just wondering.
