ESPN and Fox control college football. I'm surprised they don't make them start at 9 in the morning. Would mean passing out before the 3:30 primetime afternoon games though.

I remember when almost all our home games started at 1:00. That was like 30 years ago.

BREAD AND STEAK WERE CHEAPER, THEN, TOO. AND YOUR PAYCHECK WAS SMALLER, TOO. I DON'T CARE WHAT TIME WVU GAMES START I'LL WATCH. AND DRIVE 3.5 HOURS EACH WAY TO MOUNTAINEER FIELD TO BE THERE. IT'S THE TEAM THAT COUNTS, NOT THE TIME ON THE CLOCK.

It use to be a huge deal if WVU ever got a tv game at all period. Now that every game we have is on TV people are bitching about the start time.

One of the best night games ever at WVU was the 1984 PSU finally game.

Needed that VT game to be a night game.

You’re not the only one unhappy with kickoff times.
Oklahoma athletic director Joe Castiglione is irate that the Sept. 16 game with Nebraska, on the 50th anniversity of the Game of the Century, will be played at 11 A.M. OKLAHOMA TIME!
Fox wouldn’t budge despite entreaties from Oklahoma and the Big 12. Wanted the game at noon in the East. I don’t understand why the game wasn’t a night game.
Nebraska even tried to back out of the game because it wanted an EIGHTH home game for financial reasons after the 2020 pandemic money drain. But finally concedes it had to honor the contract with Oklahoma for 2021 since it was the 50th anniversary of the classic battle.
Oklahoma is planning a ton of activities in Norman, site of the game, to remind everyone what a great thing happened 50 years ago, which is ancient history in college football.
Nebraska beat Oklahoma, 35-31 on a come-from-behind score with 1:38 left. Nebraska’s Johnny Rodgers started the scoring with a 72-yard punt return for a TD. Greg Pruitt was the Sooners’ halfback.

Both teams were undefeated. Bob Devaney coached Nebraska and Chuck Fairbanks was Oklahoma’s coach.
#1 Nebraska, which hadn’t lost in 29 straight games, played #2 Oklahoma. The 2 teams had 17 of the 22 Big Eight first-team choices!
55 million people watched, the largest TV audience ever by 1971.

TV money decides what is what.

THAT'S A GIVEN. YOU TAKE THEIR MONEY THEN, LIKE PROSTITUTES, YOU DO WHAT THEY TELL YOU TO DO AND SHOW UP WHEN THEY TELL YOU TO SHOW UP. FANS ARE SECONDARY. TV ONLY CARES ABOUT EYEBALLS. IF YOU WANT A PRIME SPOT THEN DRAW MORE EYEBALLS TO THE TV SCREEN AND YOU'LL BE ON IN PRIME TIME. IT'S YOUR TEAM'S FAULT WHEN IT HAS TO PLAY AT NOON AND NOT AT 7 P.M. TV IS ONLY DOING WHAT MAKES IT THE MOST MONEY. ISN'T THAT WHY IT EXISTS? CAN'T BLAME THEM. BLAME THE TEAM NOT GOOD ENOUGH TO DRAW MORE EYEBALLS THAN THE OTHER TEAMS. ALABAMA DOESN'T HAVE A PROBLEM.

Kansas Jayhawks first 2 games are 7 pm against South Dakota State and 6:30 pm against Coastal Carolina. I guess they must have a ton of eyeballs.
