Any movie where the leading star gets his brains blown out at point blank range with a shotgun is a great movie. TLADILA is a great movie. Ahead of its time.

One of my favorites. The car chase scene is crazy, and in my opinion, better than the one in Bullitt. As GB said, I couldn't believe it the first time I saw it when he shot dude in the face.

Whenever I hear the term "bow legged', I think of that movie.

Badass movie. William Petersen was great.

If I'm not mistaken the chase scene in that movie included the same car from the chase scene in Point Break.

Romeo is Bleeding is an obscure good one to catch if you are a TLADILA fan. Good but not great. Gary Oldman is one of my favorite actors is why I liked it. Of course if you haven't seen "True Romance" then you have not seen the very best of Quintin Tarantino, either. That movie is stellar in this genre. The absolute gold standard is Harvey Keitel in "Bad Lieutenant"... not the idiotic Nick Cage remake, please. Here's a clip of the real thing and there are many, many from this movie but virtually none of them can be posted here:

Here is the trailer for it from 1992:

Tarantino sold the rights to that movie to fund Resevoir Dogs, which wasn't nearly as good as True Romance. I think Tony Scott ended up making True Romance.

One of the best action movies ever. Pitt's role in that is hilarious.

The encounter between Christopher Walken and Dennis Hopper in True Romance is the greatest 10 minutes of acting, writing, sound score, and cinematography in the history of movies. QT is Sicilian himself said that it actually is true and historically accurate and that he wanted to work it into the story Good thing he did as it is the crown jewel of Hopper's great career. The back and forth between him and Walken when the music starts is just sublime filmmaking.

I'm a fan of true romance but hate the casting of Christian Slater. I think he is pretty awful.

For that time period, he was fine. Val Kilmer and Brad Pitt were both offered that starring role but turned it down for smaller roles.

True story. I used to live down the street from The Safari Inn where they shot a few scenes from that movie.

I don't like anything Tarantino has ever done...simply don't like the stylized format. Most film buffs love his stuff, but I can't get into it. I do agree that Slater is a poor man's Nicholson.

Val Kilmer played Elvis in True Romance. You hardly ever see him as most of his stuff was cut, but he is Elvis that talks back to Slater.
