I've seen the C-J pretty Blue before but today it took to a new low. The entire front page of the sports section is dedicated to the Cats. I'd just like to see the Minor League Standings in baseball. Not that I buy it, I just happened to see it on a table in a doctors office. Louisville's "news" paper dedicated to the Cats. Wow. UK uses their $EC checks to buy Louisville airwaves and papers...so far they haven't gotten much of a return on their investments.

Why think national (ESPN) or global (ACCWorldWide) when you can pay millions for an OTA broadcast via a dying media that you can't sell advertising in the market?

Not to mention how can Louisville fans ignore another form of dying media like the printed news.

Nothing says big time like paying to read about something that happened two days ago. Or dinosaur like celebrating having your program trumpeted from the bottom of every bird cage or puppy training spot.

Forgive me but we don't need to remind LPT fans that they have been behind UofL in everything since the day Tom Jurich first stepped onto the Louisville campus. If Barney needs to know how to run an athletic department all he does is look toward Louisville.

Stoops could have spoken for hours about how Drew Barker is the undisputed QB or just going over the 43 players who have either gained or lost weight this year. The SEC knows who the top teams are. Why do you think they put Alabama and UK on the schedule together? So they can showcase the best of the best. The CJ is a state paper everybody cares about the State team.

Mrs Guardman and I have had a little daily ritual of reading the CJ every morning together for the last 21 years, while drinking coffee and having a muffin or toast. Used to take us 20-30 minutes (15-20 years ago). Now it typically takes about 2-5 minutes. Mrs Guardman has defended her right to 'read' a real paper newspaper for a long time, but now she is exasperated by its lack of ANYTHING. Even she concedes now that it has no substance remaining. It gives her little pleasure. Two day old 'information' combined with daily UofL hit/smear pieces and traditional thumping of Christian religion and anyone who practices it, plus large doses of hate spread heavily over conservatives and business and especially Republicans. Weekly doses of Ricky Jones racist, white-hate rants.

The CJ does extraordinarily weak reporting on city/state budgets, school budgets, in-depth pension issues, business and economic development, travel/tourism, etc -- instead focusing on social/pity-issues like drug addiction, poverty, violence, racism, free choice, UofL hate, guns, 'poor' healthcare, equality and fairness, to name a few.

Mrs Guardman is an Independent and she is sickened by the heavily distorted, one-way, views of the CJ in particular and also especially of its parent Gannett.

Thank Heaven I receive the WSJ every day, typically reading through 3 of its 4 sections pretty completely. It is about 8-10 times as thick as the CJ, and contains very few ads. So it has about 150 times as much real news and content. Even a full page of sports.

The WSJ is quite conservative in its 3 pages of op-ed views/outlooks, but it rarely smacks Liberals, Progressives and Socialists head-on. About 20-25 pages of the WSJ are dedicated to true news reporting, unbiased. I would say on a good day the CJ has 2-3 pages of true news reporting MAX, plus abt 3-6 pages of 'sports'. Both news and sports reporting in the CJ are terrible quality.

This turned out to be a big-time CJ rant, but the total demise of what was once a pretty good newspaper is tragic. The CJ is no longer relevant.

Agree! The persecution of white people and Christians must stop! We've been stepped on for far too long. Thanks for saying what many are too scared to say. Oh yeah-----more GUNS!!

I think the media in general tends towards negative news since this is what gathers the most 'hits'. I don't subscribe to the CJ for this reason towards U of L. The local media caters to the masses, and since most UK fans wear wife beater's and frame anything positive about their team, then the CJ will continue to cater to this dense population.

I finally dropped the CJ after 56 years of subscription about 4 months ago .............but I must confess that it was more about my way of rejecting their Liberal Democratic editorializing all of their news. The hardest part initially was just missing sports scores, but since I found ESPN, I get that information instantaneously over the internet.

They now send me the $.99 per week special invitation to return, but that ship sailed. I now have 30 more minutes of morning to myself. I will never go back and suspect the printed CJ will end publication soon.

Sounds about right. If Dawson hadn't over ruled Coach Stoops and let him play Barker we would have beat everybody on the schedule. You saw how Drew ripped the Louisville defense until Dawson shut him down and tried to run out the clock.

Ended my subscription about 12 years ago. I saw the signs a while ago of their liberal agenda and lean towards the blue team and once the coupons in the Sunday paper started to thin out I decided it wasn't worth wasting a dime on the warm farm and bird cage liner. I wouldn't know that the Curious Urinal even talks about us or the blueneck without someone posting a link to their rag. I very rarely even take the click bate for fear of some numbskull of theirs noticing and start the whole begging for my prescription process again.
