I just gained a little respect for him. Possibly. It could also be that IU imposed the pay cut on him and allowed him to spin this as a mutual decision.

Regardless, this should set a closer precedent for Fitz than the Frost situation. IU was a hot team last year just like we were, and before this year they had probably their best 2 years in a generation. And both their QB1 and QB2 were injured this year so that wasn’t used as an excuse.

They scored 7 or less points in half their games. We feel their pain.

I agree it is a nice gesture. But he's still making >$3 million a yearn after-tax cut of $100,000 isn't going to affect his lifestyle.......

Keep in mind that if it was not for Kevin Wilson who really energized the program abusing players Tom Allen would never been head coach there in the first place. Even with his "pay cut" his salary is quite a bit more than his previous salary as an assistant.

I don’t think these gestures are meant to meaningfully hit coaches in the wallet. If they did that it would risk a coach just bolting and would also set a bad precedent for future coaches considering the job.

Jim Harbaugh would argue otherwise. He took more than a Millions Dollar cut after last season. Although performance incentives after the successful 2021 season probably make up the difference.

I didn’t know that. Seems to have motivated him I guess.

Allen fired a coach and took a pay cut.
Harbaugh fired 2 coordinators and took a pay cut.
Frost fired coaches and DID take a huge pay cut in terms of reduced buyout.
Fitz can decide if he's more arrogant than Jim effing Harbaugh.

While the statement did not specify those terms, Harbaugh will reportedly be taking a significant pay cut as part of the deal. 247Sports reports that Harbaugh will make $20 million over five years, coming out to about $4 million annually. That's about half of what he made in 2020. However, he will still be able to earn up to $8 million with incentives. Harbaugh's buyout, while not yet specified, is also expected to be lower.

Well Harbaugh will likely make more money this year under this renegotiated deal given the incentives. Michigan beat OSU, won the B1G East, should handily beat Iowa to win the B1G, and make the playoffs as a #2 seed.

I doubt we’ll see the same results out of Indiana or Nebraska in 2022, but pressure turns coal into diamonds.

As long as there is no scandal the only way you judge a program is the results on the field. The last 4 years we have had 2 great years and 2 stinkers. If next year is a dud like this year then I would expect some big changes on staff and contract terms.Well I guess we will find out real quick if the changes in Nebby and Indiana did any good as they are our first two opponents for next year.

Fitz is more arrogant.

Sigh.
