Nice article on Baker

"In every traditional sense, Mayfield is a quarterback maestro. The senior is completing 74.6 percent of his passes for 12.2 yards per attempt, and he leads the country in both of those stats. He’s extremely accurate to any corner of the field. That’s why Mayfield puts up huge numbers, but it’s not what makes him special.

Instead, it’s Mayfield’s ability to extend plays and make things happen out of nothing.

It’s a skill he displays consistently, dancing around in the backfield until something comes open. The style isn’t textbook, nor would most coaches enjoy their quarterback freewheeling, but it’s what makes Mayfield as good as he is.

“An offense like that, with the best player in the country at quarterback, they’re going to make some plays,” Tom Herman Texas head coach said post game.

Mayfield made plenty in the victory, passing for 302 yards and two touchdowns. Crazy thing was, Mayfield was far from his best against the Longhorns. He threw his first interception of the season and missed some open throws.

That leads to the race for the Heisman.

He is the best quarterback in the country.

If his season continues the way it has, the Heisman should be his".

I agree. In fact, I'll go further and say he's the best QB in the Stoops era. But having said this, Herman is a smart man as these comments play well to his Longhorn base after a loss.

In my book, Baker is heads down the best QB in the country. He is, in my book, the best of the Stoops QBs. He just makes the games so much fun to watch. He is a great leader and his combination of es-capability, leadership and accuracy makes him a one of a kind QB. We need to enjoy him the rest of the season as we will never see another player like Baker Mayfield at OU.
