Say what you want about Izzo, yes, he's grouchy, but this press conference illustrates why Michigan State is a threat in March almost every year. He demands perfection out of his guys and if he doesn't get it, he's going to make that player work his *** off.

The game has passed Tom Izzo by. I’ve always liked him, but the numbers don’t lie.
Michigan State has lost at least 13 games 4 of the last 5 seasons.
I’m not sure that’s fair to say when Mark Pope isn’t much better under the parameters you’ve placed Izzo under. And he was just in the Elite 8.

What better team and coach to test Popes toughness and ability to get his team ready. This game will tell me a lot. I’m looking forward to it. They better show up. I wanna win but can accept a loss if they leave it all on the court. No more getting our energy outmatched.

Way to bust my bubble. When he said Sparty is a threat in March almost every year I was hoping Dear Lord maybe just maybe it was still the 90s and I just had a really really really really really bad dream.

Cal will always struggle against coaches like Izzo, because those type of coaches are all about blue collar work and discipline.
If Cal played Oakland 10 times 2 years ago in March, he would lose most of them.
It is comical that we are in year two of a new coach and we cannot move past Cal. Who cares what Cal did?

They play an OOC schedule from hell. He is definitely from the Joe Hall school of smash mouth basketball. Many teams would have more losses if they played the OOC schedule these guys face year to year. Folks like to say the game as left him but this is one dude you do not want to see in March.

First of all, Cal was a massive part of this program for 15 years, just because 2 years went by, doesn't mean his name won’t come up.

Second of all, he chose to coach at a school in the same conference who we consider to be a soft rival. Had he gone to UCLA, or even Michigan, there wouldn't be much talk of him at all.

3rd, I was responding to someone who brought Cal up.

4th, Arkansas, coached by Cal, just played Michigan State, who we are about to play.

5th, if you don't want to read Cal's name, it's probably best for you to not be on a UK message board, or you can just scroll on by. So either grow thicker skin, or get off the internet. This is a YOU problem.

Wow. Talking about having thicker skin?! Looks like i hit a nerve. It is still comical that Cal is living in your head rent free. You could not get rid of him fast enough, when he was here and you cannot stop thinking about him when he is gone. 😂 ❤️

Huh? How do you know what I'm thinking? Obviously you missed the part where I stated I was responding to someone that brought Cal up.

Look, if you can't handle conversations about Cal, then maybe get off any UK, or Arkansas basketball forums.

Joe B was Dantoni compared to Izzo. 😁

Not fun being on court with Hall or Izzo. With either, a w and no injury is a success. Neither coach had any problem with knocking you down.
Hall certainly introduced the power game to college basketball.

And I loved it. The 1978 team is still my all time favorite UK team.

in addition to power though that team averaged almost 90 points per game with no shot clock or 3 point line.

I doubt any Izzo team has averaged close to that in this era.

Izzo is a big dog on defense. Tends to be methodical on offense.

1978 is our most underrated championship team. They would have stood toe to toe with 96 or 12. However not sure any of them could have taken 15 prior to Poythress falling

I don’t buy that Izzo is some kind of defensive guru.

He’s big on rebounding and recruits to that.

But the low scoring is more a result of his stall ball offense.

Tubbylike. How many games did Tubby and Izzo match up and the final score was in the 40’s?

Watching grass grow is more entertaining.

Eh I dunno about final four threat almost every year.

Last year they were good but they have had plenty of years in recent history where they weren't remotely close. And i'm not quite sure they are there this year either.

At least the refs might be slightly less biased.
I think they'll be a lot less biased. Cal made a lot of enemies in stripes. Pope doesn't seem to have any.

I know people complain that he doesn't lose his cool as much. But you can have a Calipari who shows that fire and has refs that hate him--or you can have a coach that thinks before screaming at the refs who doesn't have a target on his back.

Not saying this is gonna happen but crappy shooting teams do have good shooting nights at times.

Because lets be honest here.......there is no way this team is only a 22% team from 3. They will regress to the mean at some point.........hopefully not against us lol.

Cam Ward is the guy to worry about. Great motor and just outworks everyone.

Keep him off the glass and we win. They are good on D, but like others have said, one of the worst shooting teams I've ever seen. One of my coworkers is a huge MSU fan and he talked before the season even started about them having zero shooters. It’s coming to fruition.

They'll shoot like they haven't shot it all season Tuesday night.

Fears and Carr are also very good talents. Fears is the one we really need to contain, if he has a below par game, they lose.

We need to win this game. I'm still pissed about Cal losing in 2OT after getting absolutely out-coached by Izzo in Indianapolis. Oscar's team.

Honestly, I really don't gaf if your soft feelings are hurt. It's not my problem, it's a you problem and you're just going to have to get over it.
