Will you stablish a separate women's BB forum, so posters won't have to sort through the men's BB forum?
Will you stablish a separate women's BB forum, so posters won't have to sort through the men's BB forum?
Isn’t it more like “If you come, he will build it”?
I am not a forum expert. What do the numbers under the forums mean? The WB board on the other site gets more traffic than the men’s board.
It's a very popular board on Rivals. I thought everything over there is being moved here.Lets see what the actual traffic looks like in the first month and decide from there. If the traffic justifies it then I am open to it.
Let me adjust my initial post, you mean as opposed to the overwhelming traffic this board saw during last season with zero posts in March? They never did it on the old site, I wouldn't hold my breath here.
Did you not read my post in this thread? It appears they just don’t want to do it for whatever reason even.
Because you never did it on the rivals site. And if you're using the "traffic" metric then this board should probably have been closed last season.Did you not read my post in this thread?
I said let's see what the traffic looks like in a month and then make a decision from there and that I was open to it. I don't know how anyone could actually read that statement and say it appears they don't want to do it for whatever reason. I simply want to see the traffic pattern before adding another forum.
I haven't been at Rivals for three years. We had informed Rivals well in advance of our departure that we were leaving and they didnt want to make changes to the forums, so closer to four years probably. But i couldnt say that because of the fact that we could not talk about our departure.Because you never did it on the rivals site. And if you're using the "traffic" metric then this board should probably have been closed last season.
How can you discern the traffic? It was very clear it stated everything would transfer over including the posts. For you to transfer that info over you either include it in 1 forum that it had been in before or you dump all of those into a different forum. You should have access to the traffic on the previous site. Others have requested the forum to be created before, when you were with rivals, and on this On3 forum. So yes that is why I can say for whatever reason you are predisposed to not having a womens basketball forum, even when you have several on this thread asking for one.Did you not read my post in this thread?

There was a separate women's forum on the rivals board, and it was very busy . . . busier than the men's, for obvious reasons. The men's will pick up this season, but I think the women's basketball interest is real and ain't goin' anywhere anytime soon. IMHO, of course. It may have something to do with the Caitlin Clark impact, two national title appearances in the last three years . . . stuff like that . . . while the men haven't even been able to make the tourney. I think that's gonna change as soon as next season, but I, for one, will still be following the Hawkeye women too.Lets see what the actual traffic looks like in the first month and decide from there. Posting facts is hostility? I'm aware you haven't been at rivals for awhile and guess what happened almost as soon as you left...a women's basketball forum. Granted I can't give an actual date for when that occurred as that site is now floating in the internet ether allegedly to appear again in some form of history ported over, but that "hostility" (fact) remains as well. And once again if you're using the traffic metric then you may as well shut down the free boards based on this site's past history. I know most people didn't migrate to the free boards here when HR moved but there's no denying that's a poor assessment tool for this site. Rivals traffic easily supported a separate forum. I created my account here right after the move just to see what it was like and promptly did nothing as everything was premium content (traffic wise) and I'm not paying more for internet gossip.I haven't been at Rivals for three years. I set up a basketball board when we arrived here because I knew that eventually On3 would be buying Rivals so folks like yourself could have a place to post and complain about me once you got here. We have invested a great deal into our women's basketball coverage the last four years sending Kyle and our photog out on he road to various events. No other site in this space did that. A lot of that coverage was free to fans.
I just don't understand the incredible hostility from you and others. I've said let's give it a month and see what this place looks like in terms of traffic and then I will make a decision. Its not like the season is underway right now. Thanks for your patience and understanding, I hope.
They said they are transfering all posts over here. There are currently 2 separate forums, it makes logical sense to create the womens forum during transfer. Secondly, how is anyone going to deem what traffic is for MBB and what is for WBB when its all 1 forum?Guys, it's not that big of a deal...Iowa Basketball covers...MBB and WBB. Once more posts are popping up, there will be a new forum.
I thought I explained why decisions were made when they were, but hey, grind that axe. Have a great holiday coming up this week. Best wishes to you.Posting facts is hostility? Also investing in the most popular thing in the state isn't some groundbreaking achievement. That began while at rivals. I'm not even sure what other viable fan sites exist to have tried to match coverage. With the media frenzy surrounding CC I can't recall any exclusive coverage that only HR was privy to.
All of this to say there's more traffic right now on this free board asking for a women's dedicated forum than at any point in the last 2 years.
It’s literally Day 1 or Day 2.They said they are transfering all posts over here. There are currently 2 separate forums, it makes logical sense to create the womens forum during transfer. Secondly, how is anyone going to deem what traffic is for MBB and what is for WBB when its all 1 forum?
It's ok. They are just bitter at me for not doing what they wanted over three years ago. Talk about holding a grudge. Maybe it's best if I just eliminate the free forums like most sites have already done. One less headache for something I think is nice for fans to have to talk about Iowa sports with their fellow Hawkeye fans. It’s literally Day 1 or Day 2.
What is the big deal? Be user friendly and add it! It will be a factor for my renewal!Lets see what the actual traffic looks like in the first month and decide from there. If the traffic justifies it then I am open to it.

Tom, I’m not bitter. Honestly I saw the women’s forum as an excellent addition on rivals . To me it’s more like you may being a little stubborn, and that’s just an honest observation and I’m not trying to be petty. The suggestion was brought up before and yes the forum never got created for whatever reason. So you should be able to understand some skepticism when it appears you are trying to push it out for a month utiliIng a metric that may be difficult to measure women’s or men’s posts. I was a paying member for a little under a decade but stopped when I had kids. I still enjoy coming to a community to cheer on Hawks, and the best forum for that the last 3 years was the women’s free forum. You had 20-30 fairly active posters that were pretty level heads with not a lot of BS. There may be difference of opinion but these are your fan forums. Your company purchased the rivals site to increase usership. 1. I would think it’s prudent to be welcoming even if you think we are being snarky 2. Be willing to try it. I understand there is likely a lot of work with the transition, and would understand it that argument had you made it. I struggle to see how you can monitor traffic and that’s all I was saying. I’m willing to give it some time, but based on the response of just shutting down the free boards I do not have high hopes. Change is Change and it’s occurring for both sides. As a paid member for Rivals, my #1 site that I visit is the WBB forum daily. Including today—except tonight the switch happened and it’s gone. Unclear if the infamous 400-page string (or whatever) running chat on CC, Kate, Megan, WNBA will return or if just not figuring out where it is, but am already in withdrawal mode. While enjoying other sports, that was a forum long desired and the activity proved it. Of course, fair question if everyone else makes the jump or chooses to jump off this train…

How am I being stubborn? I said let's see how it goes for a month and then make a decision. In what world is that stubborn? I think that is fair. You guys want the forum? Show me by starting actual womens hoops discussions instead of this sideshow.Tom, I’m not bitter. Honestly I saw the women’s forum as an excellent addition on rivals .
