Mark's boy, late of Iowa St. Loney hinting he may be in the mix for UK's WR coaching vacancy.

Is he connected in any way with any of our current staff or just someone who is highly thought of in the profession as having a bright future?

Don't know but his dad has a connection with the Stoops clan. Another site saying he's begun following some UK people on Twitter.

I like that article about him, I was not sold on the Beard guy from Miami so I am hoping that maybe this is our guy, good bloodlines which mean a lot in Kentucky haha. As long as he doesn't have his dads temper

Another interesting thing I just noticed......he gets a high percentage of his recruiting targets to commit. In the 2015 class he was assigned 8 total targets. He landed 4 of them. I'd say securing commitments from 50% of your targets is a pretty damn good success rate.

Can you expound upon this a bit? Was he recruiting locally or was he recruiting nationally? High school kids of JUCO? Was he recruiting his position or multiple ones? I simply ask because if he is recruiting locally then that can certainly add to the success, but if he was going after national targets then it is more impressive. Also, what were the ranking of the kids that he brought in? Were they consistent with the rest of the recruiters or were his lesser recruits?

Interesting that Loney didn't specifically say WR coach, although that's what you'd think it would be.

It looks like his primary recruiting areas were Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas. That was where all his targets were located anyway. They were a mix of high school and JUCO prospects from a variety of different positions. Two of his commits were wide receivers, but he also brought in a QB and an OL. As to the ranking of his recruits, two were 3 stars and two were 2 stars. Thus, his recruiting results appear to at least be on par with the other coaches on that staff. And he might have actually done an above average job. Iowa State didn't sign any recruit above 3 stars for that year. The entire class was comprised of twelve 2 stars and eleven 3 stars. So obviously he played a significant role in putting that class together.

Thanks. I appreciate the information.
