Doesn't seem that Western is as strong this year. They lost their opening series against Memphis but took 3 out of 4 against Northern Illinois. Memphis is 2-5 and Northern Illinois is 3-4.

Still how good will our focus be on Western given the games in Houston coming up? I'd bet Mingione has them ready. Still the Xavier game shows that we still have to be focused in the midweek or we could lose.

I think the Xavier was sorta fluke because of the MSU deal and that distraction but western always plays UK close. I read where Western is 9-4 against Kentucky since 2009.

That is a Henderson legacy there.

4-8 since 2009. So Henderson was 2-8 against Western Kentucky. Mingione is 2-0. Cohen was 5-1. Keith Madison was 21-17.

Wow. I never realized how bad his record was against WKU. I just never thought about it honestly. Luckily Hendo is Mississippi States problem. Speaking of State, Sunday at the Oakland game, I set close to a father and son who had bulldog gear on and asked if they were scouting a coach.....We both laughed.

A TON of scouts here today for a mid-week game. I asked what was up, and they said Haake is supposed to make his debut later on out of the pen.

I think Price was unique in that he kind of made you feel at home. He could actually keep you interested in the game all while also kind of telling side stories and random fun facts. So far, our new guy is a little bit more all business it seems. We will see how he does as he goes further, maybe he will get into some more stories and stuff rather than just pure play-by-play.

Down 1 heading to the bottom of the second, but Harper did a good job of limiting the damage.

I like that call right there. 'They argue over the real estate and it is the short stop that has the jurisdiction to make the play.'

Speaking of Xavier, they are currently leading Louisville in the middle of the 5th 4-2.

UK looking to threaten here. Runners on third and first with 1 out. Becker up.

‪WKU pitcher has gotten himself in a world of trouble here in the 3rd. Walk and two hit batsmen brings red-hot TJ Collett to the plate with 5 HR and 17 RBI already on the season. ‬

Sorry, there was actually two outs, but the bases are loaded. Collette went behind 0-2 but battled a bit before grounding out to first.

Can't get out of their own way today. Single and then a DP. Looking like the Xavier game.

We aren't getting many pitches on Acosta. We're going to let him stay around too long and then we'll have trouble scoring against the bullpen.

End of 5: WKU 3, UK 0. Cats have only two hits today after posting 40+ in their weekend series.

Acosta is owning our hitters now. We are swinging at the bad balls and taking the ones over the middle. The contact so far hasn't been strong. Collett just cranked one foul and then tried to check swing but it sure looked like strike 3. Home cooking?

End of 6: WKU 3, UK 0. Toppers’ starter Evan Acosta has been effectively wild today. Only 2 hits against him, 3 HBP, 2 BB.

Can't string anything together at all. That seems like focus to me. They don't have it at the plate tonight. Didn't have it early and now they are back on their heels watching the ones they should be pounding.

Pitching change for WKU. This is the chance that Kentucky needs to get back into this. Need to make this new pitcher, and the Hilltopper bullpen work.

Got Heyer on. Another runner on with no one out, our third. Let's get something done against the bullpen.

Boyd is a sidearm pitcher and he is not very close to start the at bat against Shinn. Shinn takes three straight ball, and they are no where close. Ball four a bit closer, but still it puts the tying run at the plate. Everything outside for this righty side arm pitcher.

He is way way way off. Not even needing to think about this. Now 6 straight balls. He finally throws one fairly down the middle, but a bit low for a strike. Dawson lets another strike pass. He has found the zone now. Dawson fights off a changeup to stay alive. What a strange change here. Another changeup and the bottom drops out of it. Nasty pitch. Dawson then hits into a 6-4-3 double play. Dawson looked safe.
