Presumably it happened a lot in the '70s and before. And there's a famous instance by Marquette in 1970 (this one by choice; I don't think this can happen anymore).
If the 'Cats are still ranked in the top 25 come selection time, I'll go out on a limb and predict that they don't share this fate.
