Just to change the subject off of local and rather unpleasant matters:

My top 5 or so after one week. Alabama (obviously); then, in no particular order, Houston, Clemson, Florida State, Michigan, and Ohio State. As a group, SEC West looked terrible, can’t see Bama losing to anyone in that division, but they do play at Tennessee (who will improve greatly over their first game)

Notre Dame-Texas was the best game of the weekend. Frankly, I was really impressed with both teams. Really enjoyed Wisconsin v. LSU, some of the games in pro stadiums have fallen a little flat, e.g. North Carolina v. South Carolina in Charlotte last year, but that one was a hell of an atmosphere.

Speaking of pro stadium matchups, Houston v.Oklahoma was another terrific game, if only to showcase just how damn good Houston is. They demolished OU (game not nearly as close as the final score) and beat the hell out of Florida State in the Peach Bowl last year. I think they can crash the Final Four if they win out (Louisville will be their toughest game)

aTm looked pretty good this weekend. Ole miss didn't look bad, just have sporadic qb. Georgia looked good against UNC as well. And like you said I was impressed with Texas, Ohio state, Michigan, and Houston. This will be the final year for les miles.

Michigan is very over rated. They will be exposed later this season. That team doesn't have the talent and depth as the other top programs in the country.

Totally agree. That was a fun game. And while ND was impressive, I think Texas was even more impressive. It was only close because of Charlie's insane habit of taking his foot off the gas pedal. He does that all the time.

Knowing his tendency to do that, and assuming that's what happened- you see a Texas team that dominated ND, then coasted until they caught up, then muscled past them again.

I expect Texas to do a lot better this year.

You may be right, they were just 5-7 two years ago. But that was their biggest win in over 40 years (and was over a Div I opponent), plus they seem to have that rare coach who might just be worth $7M a year.

Maybe. But, right now it has one of the best defenses and its new QB looked much better than I thought he would. They are much farther along at this point than they were last year and their schedule permits them to grow before their big challenges. Their coach is also the real deal.
