Opinions and butt holes . . .

My opinion is that I don't think any US pro rivalry comes close to the intense college rivalries. I'm not speaking to TV ratings, of course, but to the burning passions of the two fanbases. And because colleges field multiple teams, the passion is year-round.

I can't speak to the European soccer rivalries but based on the stories of physical violence over the years, I have to guess those are pretty intense.

I don't think any NBA teams should be top 50, but it is opinions
I dont know about all that.

Lakers - Celtics is not # 1 of all sports but belongs in the top 50 for sure.

But as you says its a opinion vs a opinion vs a bot, :)

But the NBA players is silly, Chris Paul vs Scott Foster. I dont know who Scott Foster is?

The only explanation I can think of is that the author of that list is a Michigan State fan? That would explain the great undervaluing of the OSU/Michigan rivalry and could also explain the placement of the Lakers/Celtics rivalry at #1 vis a vis Magic Johnson.

I would say the author is an Alabama or Auburn fan who just used the Lakers/Celtics rivalry as cover, but I don't think anyone in those fanbases would think that far ahead.

If you list past rivalries like Nadal-Federer then you have to list Ali-Frazier at the top in my opinion. The fights took (good) years off both of their lives.

Nothing like a totally subjective list, lol. But I agree with a few others. If you are going to put this many college rivalries in a world-wide list, how in the world is Ohio St Michigan that low. And Lakers Celtics WAS number one at some point I’m sure, but not now.

Now that college football is nothing more than another pro sports league, I think college rivalries, especially in football, are going to lose a lot of their passion. The non revenue sport rivalries will continue as always but watching two teams of mercenaries who are subject to leave the team at the end of the season and go to a rival program will make it hard to summon the passion of days past.

I don't understand pro sports rivalries at all. How emotionally invested can one get watching grown men perform the jobs they are paid to do? This seems like trying to be passionate about the stock performance of Bank of America vs. Chase.
