You do a great job of finding these things son. Proud of you. You've never waiver-ed from being a duke fan despite being out numbered by 4-1 UNC friends/fans. OFC

Living in uk country and the fact that he will get to experience what most uk fans are really like im confident he'll become a crazy. Seeing ur alls interaction on here truly makes me smile and gives me an opportunity to "envision" what it may look like with my son and i. Thank you!
A little advice. In the end he'll make the choice but you must make being a Duke fan an everyday part of his life. You live in UK country but believe me when I say this I live and my son lived up until he was 19 in Tar Heel country. Just about every friend he had was a Tar Heel fan a one who thought he was a Duke fan turned UNC fan once he stepped foot in Chapel Hill to go to school. He is now about as UNC as one can be and is a very bright young man with the exception of his spelling. I guess the point I'm trying to make here is it is so easy to follow the masses. I know other Duke fans that actually went to UNC to get their education that never gave in to the peer pressure and remained a Duke fan. Like I said it needs to be a part of his every day life. Talk to him about current and past Duke players. My son was born in 1985 and could tell you in a heart beat that Danny Ferry was his favorite player by the time he was 3 or 4. Join the Duke kid's club. That way he will receive stuff through the mail that is his own. Just log on to GoDuke.com and all the info is there. As he gets older have him watch as many Duke games with you. I got to take my son to a couple of Duke games while he was very young. I hope this doesn't embarrass him but is first game there was a very large stuffed Duke Bear for sale at the game . It was very expensive and I hadn't carried a lot extra cash with me. All he could say was "I want me one of them Duke bears.." The fans beside us in the seats looked at me like I was a bad father. I felt helpless but the doggone bear was like $40.00. The next game we went to we got to the game really earl. We went to the HOF and I decided to take him down to the playing floor. We looked around a little whilw and as went exited we ended up at the entry door to the Duke locker room. Up walks Grant Hill, Chris Collins and I think Tony Lang. We ask for autographs but they had to go. Grant told us to come there after the game. We did for a short while but if I remember correctly it had been a 9 o'clock game and it was a school night. There are other stories and I hope he will tell you about the night he was a " Cameron Crazy" and got to start a chant when MSU came to town. To make a long story shorter you just have to make him understand that being a Duke fan is special. Tell him antone living in Kentucky can be a UK fan. That's why there are so many of them there just like there are so many Tar Heel fans here, it's easy to be one. As far as being a Yankee fan I had to convert him from a Braves fan. His Paw Paw was a Braves fan and they were on television every game. Hope this long post helps. OFCOriginally posted by diehardDUKIEnKY:

4th generation Duke fan there. OFCOriginally posted by DukeSky85:
My oldest is turning 4 in September and he has already made the right choice. He got to see the Duke comeback against UNC..and the first half of the title game. We had a friend of my wife over for the Duke game...she grew up in Chapel Hill. Her friend kept trying to get him to pull for UNC..but he pushed her away and said NO! Go Duke!
Thanks diehard. Every things gonna be alright. OFCOriginally posted by diehardDUKIEnKY:
Read that with arms covered in goose flesh Thanks a ton for all of the advice, i sadly didnt even know about the duke kids club (flogging may now begin lol, be gentle tho ). I especially enjoyed the part about how being a Duke fan is special, ive been a fan since the Laettner shot and its always been a unique feeling to be a Duke fan but even now almost twenty-five years later i have never been able to attach a word to it that i felt did JUSTISE and when you said "special" the proverbial light bulb went off in my head. It is absolutely special and i hope i can show that to him as well as you and ur son have. My wife didn't realize when we first got together my passion for Duke basketball, lol but she does now and it finally hit home for her when she was pregnant and i said "honey i only have one condition for when we leave the hospital, and that is that our son WILL be dressed and leaving the hospital in Blue Devil gear", ill post the picture of me in my favorite Duke shirt and Ari in his Duke onesie, beanie, and a Duke stuffed Blue Devil. His "nursery" has a three by five Duke flag pinned directly above his crib, and one of the few "rules" i have is that on his birthday and Christmas he MUST get at least one new Duke item. Last bday he got pacifiers, this year he's getting a championship tshirt. To my Skys posters again i thank you, especially for not becoming Unc fans
fans, had yall done that well id have no frame of reference for what i hope things look like for me and my son. Btw 4 generations of Dukies... WOW KUDOS THAT IS EXTREMELY SWEET!!!
