the problem. Our weakness got exposed tonight just like it did against Georgetown. We just simply lack the quickness to compete at higher level. Not athletic ability, Quickness.

If you go back and watch either game you’ll see the difference in each was the other teams ability to create space on offense against us and take away space on the defensive end. On defense their quickness allowed them to guard us in our shirts on and off the ball which took away our cuts and motion causing us to dribble out the clock.

And on defense we guard a foot and a half off the ball giving them room to penetrate and cut with ease.

It’s going to be our Achilles heel all year cause there is t a magic pill to fix it. We just hope our matchups in the tournament are against team with less team quickness

IMO quickness is the top two trait I’d build my team around in todays game. And that may be the thing we struggle with them most.

Interesting to watch how coach tries to work around this.

well that and the talent difference is still there, we can go depth for depth with everyone, but we cant go talent for talent with the upper tier teams

Absolutely one of the best posts around here ... fair, balanced, real.

This is a good point. Once we slowed the game down we were able to get back in it. But when we tried to run with them they were faster and killed us. We will have to play smarter in order to beat quicker teams.

My biggest concern is how obvious that was in the first five minutes of the game. Yet, we kept trying to do the same thing and it put us in a serious hole. Pope has to be quicker on the fly to adjust to the tempo of the game —- if he can, I can’t see a reason why we aren’t a top team by the end of the season. We played very bad and very wrong, yet still was right there on the road against one of the best teams in the country. We have a lot to be excited about but Pope can’t be stubborn.

Can try to analyze, wrap your mind around it, sugar-coat it, whatever. The answer is the talent is mid-tier and there's really no high end potential here other than JQ. JJ doesn't seem to be on that upper tier. Malachi has been surprisingly good and needs to start over Garrison ASAP.

Sometimes the answer is really that simple. Been mentioned in several posts tonight. Pay top $$ for top end and go 7-8 deep. 12 man depth is useless and "depth" just means "low ceiling".
