Today is the 20th anniversary of the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity house fire in Chapel Hill that killed 5, including my childhood family friend, Joanna Howell. May 12th fell on a Sunday in 1996, and it was Mothers' Day and Graduation Day.
As if we ever forget that the rivalry begins and ends at the parameters of various fields and courts of play, thoughts and prayers for the families and friends of Joanna, Josh, Ben, Anne, and Mark, and for the town of Chapel Hill and the entire UNC community as they honor and remember those lost that day.
