Maybe we take those leaving personal because of our love for all things WVU, but that portal is crazy. I read through it just glancing and there are not enough landing spots for all these kids in the portal. And some schools have 20 and 30 kids leaving. Big name schools, much bigger than WVU, who are losing 4 and 5 star kids. That is crazy. This is as bad as free agency in the pros. If there is where college ball is going, there will be no reason to have college ball. Let the NFL and NBA form real minor leagues like MLB and pay for their own players instead of the universities.

Loyalty is now out the door it seems and that is a shame.

Create an atmosphere where players want to be. Problem solved.

Horrid to see people who decry their "freedom" anytime they want guns to shoot someone, or don't want to wear a mask, putting everyone-not just themselves at risk, now whining like lunatics and trying to punish players when they excercise their "freedom" to play where they want to be.

The transfer portal giveth and taketh away. Will Grier, Tony Fields, and many other transfers helped WVU immensely, so you have to take the good with the bad.

You have no idea what you're talking about. But please feel free to continue with being stupid.

Seems more and more like it takes more than it gives.

Your reasons for not liking the transfer portal are legitimate, Allen, but unfortunately, it appears that it's here to stay, so you have to hope that your coaches make the best of it.

Since colleges like WVU are going to be turned into farm system for the elites then it would be nice if NCAA allowed them to add the total players lost to the number of 25 scholarships lost. If 10 transfer then you should be allowed 35 for scholarship recruiting.

In before bucktard blames Neal Brown.

Guess James Franklin is creating a hostile work environment when 5 players left in one day.

So another "Once a Mountaineer always a Mountaineer " is leaving. No wonder fan support is falling. Loyalty has to go both ways.

I would say as this continues college football/basketball for most will be like the NBA or NHL- who cares. No loyalty from players for college means most will quit watching! And they should honestly! We can get this from the pros

I saw that on my phone while ago, and my first thought was that it seemed like he's been playing for WVU for 7 or 8 years now. I realize everybody gets a bonus year that wants one, but damn.
He came in with Jordan and now leaves with Jordan.

Hope I’m wrong but the transfer portal will kill a lot of people’s interest in college sports. Blue bloods will start to cherry pick best players off programs like wvu. I can see the argument that players have the right to leave, but being able to transfer without sitting out a year will crush the competitive balance and interest on college sports.

The transfer has changed though! With instant availability the very top will just replace their losses with other programs great kids! Leaving those programs to rebuild again and again!

I agree, it will make people lose interest. And beyond that the cancel culture in all of sports is already starting to hurt them and that will only get worse if they dont wise up on it. The NBA's numbers are at historic lows. Adam Silver needs to go. Sports are an escape from politics and should remain that.
