Travis Ford not as upset as many with the UNC game

I mean no disrespect but he hasn’t exactly earned the head coach accolades from success that make me want to listen.
He's not going to dog his buddy Pope. Ford was a senior at Kentucky when Pope redshirted here in 1994. They're close. He's not going to be critical and burn a bridge.
I thought our defense was better but our offense is just obviously awful.
Former players’ viewpoints only matter if they agree with us.
Because he knows Mitch is going to hire him as next coach.
The only thing you can say is that we had two key guys out, one being our PG.. and our star-studded big and most skilled player hasn't played yet.
Problem is. Lowe isn't a world beater. If this team was just narrowly losing some games but still looking good, then I'd say "Oh once Lowe and Mo get back, we will shore this up".. but they aren't going to make enough of a difference. Too many big problems with this team for either of those guys to be the difference in how we look on the floor.
But.. you get them back, maybe JQ.. maybe we turn into a fringe top25 team and upset a team in the tournament as a 7-seed or something. That's kind of our ceiling for now.

If he said Pope sukked he would be considered a subject matter expert.
His take couldn't be more spot on. Its hysterical the number of trolls that come out and dog Ford out for saying something positive about the club though. Had he said the team looked like crap, those same people would have been like, "ooh, ooh, look at what Travis said!"

We did some sane things defensively as a cohesive unit against a halfway decent team and we ran about ten seconds of very solid zoom action through Malachi Moreno.

He’s right, defense was improved. Oweh showed a bit more focus and effort, Jelavic played hard and improved defensively and Chandler expanded his offensive game to finish at the hole a bit more. Those were positives.
But the offense was atrocious and it’s getting more apparent that this team isn’t taking to coaching and won’t accomplish much unless Lowe/JQ return to a high level and play a high # of minutes.

Makes sense. Get one side of the ball better and the other side falls apart. We need a complete game. Pope had better figured it out. He didn’t help his cause with his comments after the UL game.
