Trevor salvages what was otherwise a crummy football weekend here. Way to go! I see more Skittles commercials in his future.

that’s not a horse collar. It’s karma for a rapist. Thankfully this was good for Trevor.

Sunday Night in America:
So you weren't surprised about Trevor Simien's performance?
Drew Brees: No. Trevor Simien knows the game plan. He knows where the ball is supposed to go. He can get the ball out on time.

(or something like that)

Seemed like on several plays, he had more time to throw behind the Saints' O line today than at almost any point during his Broncos tenure. Makes a lot of difference. So impressive was how Trevor hung in there despite oncoming rushers and made plays because of that pocket presence. I'm thrilled for him.

In the NFL, too. The man was cursed to play behind a bad OL wherever he went.
So true. I watched most of his games with the Broncos and was shocked by the ghastly OL play. I thought it was the worst I had ever seen in the NFL. Then I watched his short stint with the Jets. Oof! It will be interesting to see what Trevor can accomplish behind a competent OL.

Gotta hand it to the Saints for seeing Trevor's ability. Redeemed himself, too, after missing an easy one about the Buc's 10 yard line. Huge W.

The Bucs racked up some 11 penalties.

We all know that Skeeeeeeeep is a professional/paid troll, but nonetheless, still hilarious to see him refer to Trevor as a pretty good QB in his lame defense of Brady - when during his time with the Broncos, he kept saying that Siemian was not a good QB.

Of course, overlooking the fact that Siemian was young (still learning to play the position) and was playing behind one of the worst O-line in the league with no run game, TE or slot receiver (having 1-2 of those is vital to a QB if the O-line stinks), not to mention playing with a painful busted shoulder for 2/3rds of his 1st season as a starter.

But of course when Dak was playing poorly (despite having one of the best O-lines and a stud at RB), it was because he didn't have a #1 receiver; just as Skip defended Brady for what he was missing around him against NO.

Well, the Saints were still missing their #1 receiver, Hill in his gadget role and their starting LG; aside from the RBs, a bunch of no names.

The leading receiver for the game had been called up from the PS the day before, and the leading TE had 1 career catch coming into the game.

The more astute observer knows that Siemian can run Sean's playbook better than Hill (or Winston, for that matter), but at least publicly, Payton is saying that Hill (coming off of concussion protocol) will be the starter against the Falcons.

Maybe this is gamesmanship on Payton's part, but he's also known to have a lot of loyalty to Hill.

Here's a pretty good break down of Trevor's performance.

Could have been a bit better with ball placement (esp on that pass that would have been an INT), but some of that can be attributed to the Bucs pass rush where Siemian didn't have time to set himself properly.

Also could have had a 2nd TD if the receiver hadn't bobbed the ball (stopped near the goal line).

Still, having 5 scoring drives out of 8 isn't too bad against one of the better D's in the NFL (albeit, would have been better if had gotten 3 TDs and 2 FGs as opposed to 2 TDs and 3 FGs).

Really happy for Trevor.Had a difficult time staying healthy at NU but has persevered and got his chance today and came through with a big victory.Great to have another Wildcat to watch on Sundays.Stay healthy my man.

Playing behind a poor O-line will do that, but despite his injuries (2 lower leg), he played thru them (b/c Fitz had no other choice since they hadn't developed a viable back-up), but alas his 3rd injury (from the ill-planned QB sneak) ended Trevor's NU career andany hope of a bowl game.

And as bad as the Broncos O-line was, the Jets was worse as Gase had brought in a center out of retirement who (1) was not in shape and (2) was calling the protection despite not really knowing the playbook.

Having 2 bad OCs in Mike McCoy and Gase really stunted Siemian's growth and hurt his wallet.

Trevor is grossly underpaid as a backup.

One thing I noticed in Trevor's post game interview is that he's been busy in the gym while on the bench.

Noticeably bulked up.

If this turns out to be true (from what a staffer told SI's Breer), Trevor could be seeing deja vu - going back to a platoon role with Hill.

If Taysom Hill is out of the concussion protocol, that's pretty much what I expected to happen. Better than nothing for Trevor.

Maybe not so bad for Trevor. Hill has never started full time, plus the way he plays make it hard to stay healthy.

Lots of comments on that video of people saying Trevor should be the starter.

Along with Armah, these were guys with which Trevor was familiar and had some chemistry from playing on the scout team.

I'm delighted he played so well considering the horrific injury he suffered with the Jets.

Even when Dak was "playing poorly" (by his standards), he was still pretty good. There were very vocal Cowboys fans who were complaining about Dak because they like to complain about everything, but most of us were defending him.

I definitely remember Trevor Siemian with the Broncos beating my Cowboys in a head-to-head game. He might get a chance to do it again with the Saints later this season.

Things pretty much went downhill for Trevor after that game.

Interesting tidbit from Peter King.

In the weeks before the game against the Bucs, 3 different teams called the Saints inquiring about Trevor.

But SP, being the smart cookie that he is, wanted to hold onto TS (according to PK, SP really likes Trevor - and not surprisingly, b/c more of his playbook is open with Trevor as opposed to with either JW or TH).

If TS ever gets the chance to master SP's scheme, he's the type of QB that Sean would allow to audible.

Had to roll my eyes when Saints fans (during TC and the pre-season) thought that Trevor would get cut/end up on the PS.
