For the audiophiles around, any recommendations for a decent Turntable? Would not mind buying up to $250 or so.

Thanks

If you are close to the Bowling Green area a store called Mellow Matt's usually has a good selection of turntables. Some used systems plus some new stuff. Might want to check him out if you live close to the Bowling Green area.

Corbin. I got about 200 LPs from by High School and college days of late 60's though mid 70's. Just back into listening to them on old Turntable that works fine but just in mood to upgrade.

Went to WKU from '72-'76 and will be going to Nashville end of July to a Johnny Rivers concert. Will stop and check it out. Thanks

The Audio Technica turntables in the 200-300 range are very nice. Have fun with vinyl. I love it and listen to it a lot but just don't buy the hype on vinyl being in any way "better" sound quality than digital. It has a great sound that is caused by the imperfections of the media but there is PLENTY of research that proves that there is really no benefit in terms of higher fidelity. Now mastering is another story. Old style mastering of records had this crazy musical element called "dynamics".

The main reason I listen to my LPs is for the flashbacks it brings me of my High School and College days. The imperfections I guess is what causes this nostalgia.

I have a pro-ject debut carbon. those have a wide range of costs, but can generally be found in th 400 dollar range. (It was gift to me a couple years ago...I was embarrassed because it cost around 700 then...anyway, the damn thing is great).

A Technics 1200 turntable will always be the standard for me. Built like a tank and great at resisting any kind of feedback from your audio system. A solid cartridge/needle and a nice rubber or even cork slipmat and you’re good to go for decades.

I’ve built and now maintain a collection of around 3,000 LPs/12”s and 800-1,000 45s over the past 20 years. Have had three Technics 1200s in the same time period and they all still work perfectly. Just be sure to change out your needle every few years.

You can't go wrong with a Craig PowerPlay and a couple of Jensen 6x9 coaxials. YWIA.

This is the correct answer.

I have the Fluance RT81 and it is awesome. $249 from Amazon.

Comes with Audio Technica AT95E cartridge as standard. Solid walnut cabinet - sounds great - can't go wrong with this one.

Mellow Matts have lots of new vinyl and tons of used vinyl. Most of the used vinyl is in the $5-$10 range.

Are you guys making all these jokes because this thread is about turntables and then there's a Beck song called "Where It's At" where in the chorus he sings "I have two turntables and one microphone"? I think I get it now. Haha.
