I'll admit that I didn't know much about the Twin Peaks phenomenon back in 1990 until my neighbor loaned me the entire series about 10 years ago. Loved the first season but the second season was a dud IMO. Probably why it fizzled out and the popularity faded. Still it's considered a cult classic. After 26 years David Lynch is renewing the series on Showtime in May. I have my doubts about how successful this will be but we'll see.

So is this a reboot of the show, or a continuation from where it left off?

ie does someone need to have seen both of the original seasons to watch this?

Good question and one that I can't answer. From what I've read they've been pretty tight lipped.

I actually tried watching earlier this year b/c I love most of the genre/shows apparently "inspired by" it...made it through 3 episodes I believe -- the 80's corny/cheese factor was so off the charts I couldn't stick with it until it really got going.

Definitely 80's! I should know they were my 20's. I didn't like Twin Peaks then. I doubt I would now.
