No! It was supposed to be eight days and now they won't be back until February which will end up being about 8 months. They are having thruster and Helium issues with the craft and they are going to be brought back when another one goes up there.

Yea. I loved it when one X poster said that the government should take over Space X and just do space as a government project... Oh this younger generation. LOL. We used to do that but they went broke paying for 1000's of people who didn't do anything and toilets that cost $2 million and hammers that cost $20,000. The good old days of NASA.

Elon has criticized Boeing for prioritizing Woke DEI initiatives over safety. Now he is called upon to clean up their mess.

Trump's planes are boeings. Biggest conspiracy theory going, which I mentioned months ago before the assassination attempt, is they are going to use Boeing to take him out.

From planes across the world having issues all the way to the space station. Yea they are normalizing the Boeing issues so when it takes out a Trump plane it won't seem so outlandish.

Pretty sad two humans are suffering because of political pride. No reason at all to not continue with the company that revolutionized the industry.

Before elon, we had to beg Russia to take us to space. Thats off the table now too. Guess that request won't be made any time soon, even if Russia offered to do it.

From what I’ve read they could have undocked their current ship but if they had it potentially could have damaged that access point beyond repair leaving only one functional dock going forward. Damn mess. Can’t imagine anything worse than getting stuck in a box for eight months… dammit. Wait didn’t we all just do that?

Correct but I thought a team was up there in the past few weeks and was taking pics with them. Maybe I am wrong as i havent been paying attention but I feel like they could leave, they just dont want to abandon the thing.

They absolutely have not had any chance to leave since they left. They said they are ok with being stuck up there, but they have not had one single chance to leave. Not sure where you got that but it's incorrect that they stayed because they wanted to.

No doubt. The day to day seems tedious as hell. Claustrophobic asf and the part that is the coolest (the view) is probably scary as **** when you look out that window. Constant reminder you could die at any second.

Really makes you wonder how many people dreamed about being astronauts and finally make it to space and are like “is this it?”

Suni Williams ran the Boston Marathon from the ISS (twice). I hope she runs it on Earth in 2025. This year the crew held space Olympics events. If I was stuck there, I'd want to play Dungeons & Dragons in my free time.

Phys.org: NASA explains strange noise heard by astronaut in Boeing's Starliner

It explained the mystery noise as feedback from the speaker that was the result of an audio configuration between the spacecraft and the ISS. Wilmore reported the sound as he was working inside Starliner on Saturday.

"The space station audio system is complex, allowing multiple spacecraft and modules to be interconnected, and it is common to experience noise and feedback," NASA stated. "The crew is asked to contact mission control when they hear sounds originating in the comm system."

NASA also took the opportunity to state the feedback has "no technical impact to the crew, Starliner, or station operations, including Starliner's uncrewed undocking from the station no earlier than Friday, Sept. 6."

It's still unsettling. I mean if it bothered a badass like Wilmore, it'd have me in a panic attack.

NASA plans to retire the ISS in 2030, by crashing it into the Pacific Ocean. Man, I'd love to own a cool piece of it.

Space.com: 'There was some tension in the room', NASA says of decision to bring Boeing's Starliner spacecraft home without astronauts

The spacecraft is set to depart the ISS without its crew on Sept. 6 for a return to Earth on Sept. 7, to conclude a mission odyssey that began June 5 after launching its first astronauts to space. It was supposed to be only a 10-day mission, although there was flexibility given the mission was developmental.

Starliner's historic first test mission with astronauts had issues docking with the ISS on June 6 after five thrusters (out of 28) in its reaction control system misbehaved. Months of space testing, ground testing and modeling followed, but the possible root cause — overheating of the thrusters, which may lead to insulation shedding that blocks propulsion lines — could not be firmly confirmed.

NASA ultimately determined it was too much of a risk to put the two NASA astronauts back on board Starliner, and changed its ISS manifest to bring the astronauts home in another way.

It ain't gonna crash Saturday, but Christ -- imagine the consequences for Boeing if it does. :/

Let me just put it this way...I'd never fly on that thing. Boeing royally screwed up the program.
