Some of our key players never get mentioned by us fans. Here are two that absolutely changed our team make up in the mid-year. Props to the coaches and especially to the players.........

Dru Samia....He took over and played extremely well for a true freshman. St. John was targeting our pass\run plays. Dru really stood out IMO. I would call him the offense newcomer of the year, even over Mixon.

Will Johnson....Nobody talks about him except in gameday threads. Every game I've watched or re-watched I can not tell you one play where he got beat for a TD. He has had some mishaps, but he had a lot more highlights. His play was the reason we were able to move Parker to a weak link safety position. I think he's our newcomer of the year on defense and he's only a sophomore.

Honorable mention to Austin Dakota. Great job...

What you think?

And I'm going to give a "Kish" trophy to Ty Darlington. I have never seen more people dissing these two the last few years. Both the coach and our excellent center had extremely great years.

BTW, Kish swung the top rated 2016 rated LB to OU from OSU.

Everything I've heard about Levi Draper reminds me of a Rocky or Teddy. Just a few years ago I would have went and watched him live.

Parker has definitely improved but not yet great IMO. Heck the whole secondary has improved big time from last year. They are playing with confidence. K2c I think Matt dimon has had a solid year as well

Stop being so positive. We could lose and then we'll need to fire or bench someone.

Seriously, any list that doesn't have John Frickin Wayne on it is worthless and you should be ashamed of yourself.

I'm already looking forward to back-to-back NCs though...so I got that going for me.

Westbrook, Samia, Mixon, Andrews, Johnson and Siebert have been great additions besides Mayfield and the steady improvement of Parker, Alvarez and Jordan Thomas have all been great.
Tulsan....lighten up.

The thread is about "key decisions that changed our season," but the post is regarding players. To me, the biggest decision was Bob telling Lincoln to use our stud RBs more and take pressure off John Frickin Wayne to win every game. The other would be whatever Mike has done to turn this defense around.

Outside of that, the "key decision" regarding players was naming John Frickin Wayne the starting QB.

Two key decisions:

#1 Bob's decision to name Baker as the starting QB although he indicated that the race was tight and any of the three QBs could do the job. Yeah, right.

#2 Bob's decision to revamp his staff including moving Mike upstairs and giving up his DB position coaching in favor of a new hire.

I think they are:

Hiring Lincoln Riley and getting back to a semblance of the offense that got us #7 in 2000. (still using a formidable running game)

Putting brother Mike upstairs and keeping his impulsive histrionics off of the sideline.

Key Decisions

Getting two NFL caliber RB more involved. I do believe Samia, is a big part of the success.
And Johnson is the unsung hero of our defense

Honorable Mention, Steven Parker
