Two newspapers reported, then retracted that Ken Stabler died today.

Other outlets reported that it is true.

Strange news story. ESPN just ran a crawl saying that he'd passed away today. Wondering if the info is true or not.

Stabler was one of three Bama quarterbacks, who started on the first eleven Super Bowl champions. The other two were Bart Starr and Joe Namath. Stabler was the youngest of the three, and apparently the first to go. He was or is 69.

Yes and confirmed by his family. Stage 4 colon cancer.

Not the way I want to go out.

A character indeed.

His Raider team mates said you could still smell the previous nights whiskey oozing from his pores in the huddle.

I kind o like that...a maverick.

Never have been a Raider fan, but I always liked The Snake and those classic match ups with the Chiefs and Steelers. I'm sure Bear Bryant is glad to see his old friend and QB. May God bless and protect his soul.
