Basketball standout Tyran Stokes of Sherman Oaks Notre Dame joins football team
Tyran Stokes, the top player of the 2026 national basketball recruiting class, makes his first appearance in football jersey for Sherman Oaks Notre Dame.
My first thoughts. Then after I thought about it I like him being a kid while he can. Most every player is all about money. Maybe he’s more of a normal guy that just loves the sport and wants to compete no matter what. I think he’s the next big thing honestly mainly because of his mindset. You can tell he loves contact. Pope needs to land this kid. I think he’s a bigger difference maker than Pooper Flag.

Isn't that the truth. That's the place for idiotic hot takes. I tried to watch a couple of videos and I couldn't do it. I don't give them clicks. The white guy is the worst.
How? I think he’s better than Flag? Not really that crazy of a statement. I’m not gonna buy into the hype just because ESPN and anything else. I remember him losing to Amari Williams Andrew Carr and a little bit of a stripped ball from Oweh just for ESPN to ignore UK even won the game. I remember the whole postgame show was Cooper Flag and his stat line. Not that we won. Not that he made several critical mistakes during crunch time. Not that he had a chance to win the game and he just dribbled the ball out of bounds. I seen how great he was everywhere and I’m sorry I see it for what it is and not what the hype machine says.
We’ll see. I can’t stand espn, Duke, or Cooper Flagg , but he was labeled as a “generational “ player long before he committed to duke . I hope we get Stokes but I believe you are overhyping him by quite a bit .
Also maybe Cooper has a better career and more upside but I’m talking about their one season in college as a freshman because that’s all we will get from both. I think as a freshman Stokes will be more college ready. I could be wrong. I don’t see him dribbling the ball out of bounds with a chance to win the game. I see him going up to dunk on somebody and getting a foul. Not spinning away from contact and getting stripped or falling down.
That’s definitely a “hot take”. Flagg had a pretty decent year.
Let’s hope he doesn’t break his leg playing football then commits to the cats. I just don’t feel we really are in play for him honestly. I think Pope may go after the transfer portal a lot harder than he does the high school kids. Or maybe he isn’t able to close like many are saying. I’m still wanting him to get his big fish from high school he needs it.
