If you could put 1 of these guys on this year's team, which would you pick??
I believe during the first month of the season, the answer was Tyus. It was obvious DT wasn't ready yet, and our offense really bogged down.
Jahlil is the most dominant and would be the answer if we had Amile.

But without Amile, I believe Justise would be the answer. He would really help out our 2 biggest flaws- rebounding and defense. He could guard opposing teams 4 man, and allow Ingram to get some much needed rest on defense. On offense, he would relentlessly attack the rim, and give our offense some easy baskets (we don't get too many of them.) Who would everyone else have?

I would go with Jah all day long. Having that go to inside presence is exactly what this team doesn't have.

Of course Jahlil, but I think K really thought before the tourney that Tyus was definitely returning. It has been the biggest weakness in this year's team. Then Winslow especially with the injury to Amile, because he is an elite athlete that can control the game with his defense and rebounding. Both areas Duke is lacking this year.

Jah was a liability in the Final 4 because of free throws and sometimes even defense. Give me Justise.

Heck, we'd be a lot better with Ryan Kelly or even a Tyler Thornton. We just don't have the game-ready bodies.

There's a good case to be made for each. PG is the most important position in college basketball. Tyus would be a threat to score, and would set others up better. Justise would be a third dominating athlete. Jah was ACC PoY and first team AA for a reason. Additionally in support of Jah, we have greatly reduced expectations of Marshall and have therefore been really, really pleased w/ his improvement and leadership. Jah gave us a reliable go-to scorer for those occasions where our shooting is off.

I'll go w/ Justise.

Tough between Tyus and Justise but I've got to go Tyus. This team was built around the thought that Jah and Justise would be gone, not Tyus. He's the big missing piece (alongside Amile being out) to this team.

Justise. I am still convinced he has the highest ceiling of all last years freshmen.

Jahlil. Other teams would have to double him. freeing up our shooters. plus he would put the other teams big in foul trouble. in a pinch Grayson, Luke, and Brandon can bring the ball down. honestly I would love it if any of the 3 were still here.

Right now with Amile out we need to have a strong inside. With Jah and Marshall down low it really would open Ingram up. I think between Allen, Thornton and Kennard we could get the ball to where it should go and Allen could be even more creative. OFC

Tough all three offer some things we don't have.

I was between tyus and Justise but I'll say Justise. His rebounding and defense would be enormous.

I really wish we could've seen Tyus, Grayson and Justise on the floor together this season. Those three with Ingram and Amile? Puh-leeeeeease. Undefeated and on our way to a three-peat. Damn NBA and their big salaries...

guard play is the key in march. i would have loved to see tyus stick around for one more. plus he could have (possibly) improved his draft status.

Jah, easy answer IMO. He's that special of a talent, would demand double-teams freeing up the shooters. He could play alongside Mp or Ingram and be very successful.

Winslow was the best player in the country last March. His defense was unbelievable. Any of the 3 would be great but give me Justice

Jahlil.. Only because we've had such a hard time when shots aren't falling.. Jah would give us offense no matter what.

Jah, he just opens up everything offensively. I think Ingram would have benefitted the most and been more consistent especially here near the end of the season.

Give me Justice Winslow. I let Kennard run point, Allen at the 2, Winslow 3 and Ingram at the 4 but them two could switch on guarding the 3-4. Winslow would give us a double double every game so our rebounding would be better and definitely be better on defense.

Yeah but could you imagine how good Kentucky would've been with the Harrison twins, Dakari Johnson, and 5th year senior Daniel Orton???

Point guard play is what wins in March but I'd still take Jah. Easy buckets all day. More rebounding. Open looks from 3.

Kennard isn't a point guard. Not even close.

Define best.

I watched Tyus put us on his back many, many times. In all my years of watching Duke I've never seen a 19-year-old with his moxie. When someone had the vision of what it meant to be a bad *** all those years ago I can only assume Tyus was one of the prototypes.

Jah was our best player last year.
Tyus was our most valuable player.
Justise was our most important player.
That's talent, influence, x-factor, respectively.

No offense to Justise, but I'd take the do-it-all PG. Even with Jah or Winslow our PG situation is still flimsy at best.

side note...when you think about it this teams has many "holes", which makes what K has done with them even more impressive.
