Cats play Dayton at the United Center. Date is confirmed. Good match-up. Second game of a double-header, with Illinois-BYU as the other tie.

Should be a good test, Dayton will have four starters back from a 25-8 team, assuming Charles Cooke eventually withdraws from the draft. Several Chicago area kids on their roster: Kyle Davis and Josh Cunningham from Morgan Park, and Kendall Pollard from Simeon.

Maybe there will be another Morgan Park player on the floor that day but he will be wearing purple.

Awesome. The tougher non-conference schedule is the clearest message that Collins expects to contend for a bid this year, and we can set our expectations accordingly.

2018 is the year. Too young to make it this upcoming season.

Since there will almost certainly be 1 ticket for both games, expect Illinois fans to occupy the majority of seats.
I'm not so sure about that. Illini vs. UIC drew a paltry crowd this past year. Dayton will bring a sizable following, I would bet.

Aren't you the same guy that predicted that Penn State loss on the road this year? Oh wait, that was NJCat, my bad...

Given that NU beat PSU in Evanston, it wasn't me. Probably wrassler, he gets his venues mixed up.;)

I doubt a team with no Senior starters makes it to the NCAA out of the Big 10. But in 2018 they will have a deep, experienced line-up. Be patient, my son.......

I'm pretty sure IL plays at the UC annually, so it's not a novelty for them. Their crowd size will depend on how their season is going and the opponent. I'm sure Dayton and BYU will have nice contingents. Hopefully we will too.

Don't think BYU will bring much of a crowd but NU better have more fans then Dayton.

NU's basketball team beat Penn State in State College this year, not Evanston. The Evanston game was the contest where we attempted to set a record for missed 3 pointers in a game, with predictable results.

This year they averaged just under 13,000 fans per game. They're regularly in the top 30 nationally.

They also come out in force to the Atlantic 10 tournament as well as the NCAAs.

With the game well before Christmas and Chicago being only a 4.5 hour drive away, I'd be surprised if the UD block doesn't outnumber the NU contingent.

If so, that's more than NU fans at a WRA Big 10 home game......
Our attendance average was well over 6,000 this year and that included a lot of games against teams that didn't bring any fans, including Penn State and Minnesota and Rutgers, so I think you're a little off base there.

Big 10 games seemed to me to be 2:1 NU to Visitors, which at 7,500 average attendance would be 5,000 NU to 2,500 visitors........

Fitz, I don't know if you go to the games but as a season ticketholder, for a long time, I think the percentage was a good deal higher. For example in the Maryland game there very virtually no Maryland people, against Wisconsin the crowd was 7500 with about with at most 1500 visitors. The Illinois game was sold out and if there were 1000 Illinois people there I would be surprised. In all of the other games the visiting crowds were no more than a couple hundred if that. I think your underestimating our support and by the way my ticket guy says they are getting a lot of new calls for season tickets.

And they have nearly 5000 alums just in the immediate Chicago area. 5000 at the game might be a slight stretch. But as I said initially, 5000+ wouldn't surprise me.

I think the NU contingent will outnumber of UD contingent. Also, I think our season ticket base will increase next season. Next season, with McIntosh, Falzon, Pardon, Skelly, Lindsey and Law returning along with a talented freshmen class, there might be some buzz around this team.

That's the nice thing about always predicting NU to lose...you conveinetly forget when you are wrong and boast about your foresight when you are right. When the Cats win you are bask in their victory. It's always a "win" for you.

You have a point. Having been a fan since 1974 "Expect Victory" is still hard to accept.....;)

Thinking that at least half of those Dayton alums won't even know or care that the game is being played. Illinois will have the majority of fans in the stands, hopefully NU will bring in 3,000 plus, Dayton maybe 1,500 and BYU a couple of hundred. Most importantly, Nu needs to win the game, played in front of a Chicago crowd. Does anyone know if it will be part of the NU ST package?

You're most likely correct with your BYU estimate, but I'm guessing you've never been around Dayton fans before.

As someone who has been to multiple postseason events where UD has participated, I can confirm that fan base travels very well.

There's a reason (besides location) that Dayton hosts the first four every year. It's a passionate, passionate fanbase.
