”Last week, freshman outside linebacker Samuel M'Pemba was ticketed for driving 88 miles per hour in a 55 mph zone, according to records from the Oconee County Sheriff's Office. His speeding citation occurred about an hour before Bulldogs receiver Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint made an appearance in court in Athens and pleaded guilty to driving 90 mph in a 45 mph zone.

M'Pemba's citation was at least the 11th traffic-related moving violation involving Georgia football players and their cars since Jan. 15, when offensive lineman Devin Willock and football staff member Chandler LeCroy were killed in a wreck in which police allege LeCroy's SUV was racing a car being driving by former Bulldogs defensive tackle Jalen Carter. Police said LeCroy's SUV was traveling more than 100 mph when it left the road and slammed into power poles and trees.”

UGA's Smart: Speeding remains issue for team

With at least 11 traffic-related moving violations involving Georgia players since Jan. 15, Kirby Smart said he'd "be the first to admit we haven't solved that issue."

Is it safe to conclude that with the new pay for play rules, more (immature) players are getting more cars (possibly higher horsepower) from more dealerships leading to more speeding tickets. Maybe that's in the article...I didn't read it.

88 in a 55 though. Who hasn't done that?

Ok.....so 100 kids on the roster with 11 traffic violations.
If you sampled 100 random 18-21 year old UGA non athletes, how many traffic violations would you have in the last 6 1/2 months?

And no, I'm not condoning some of the more serious incidents listed.... but how does it compare to the general public?

Athens is in Northern Georgia, just imagine how fast he could have been going if he were in Southern Georgia, in perhaps Valdosta.

Recently I almost got run off of the road doing just that. Post covid, it's not the same.

Based on the actions of the general public today....that is setting the acceptance bar pretty low.
