No so much for this season, but OU has just granted Trevor Knight his release to go play at another school.

I'm wondering what the rules would be for a game on January 11 if the new school starts the winter semester in that time frame.

Knight had the best bowl performance by an OU quarterback I ever saw, and there have been some good ones.
It is even more crucial that Mayfield stays healthy. Cody Thomas hasn't played more than a handful of plays so OU is really walking a tight rope as far as QB depth is concerned.

If Mayfield goes down in the playoffs then we can forget it it. Neither Knight nor Thomas can step in and get anything done.

Has a team captain ever transferred? Just seems weird. I guess Trevor needs to prove something to himself. He surely doesn't think he can play in the NFL. So he gets beat out and leaves his senior year for a chance to play quarterback one year. All this is hard to understand, but I wish him the best. He helped win one of the best games for OU that I've ever watched.

Well Knight did not do well as back up when Mayfield went down. So, if Mayfield gets hurt, we are in deep water.

Best wishes Trevor. Does releasing him mean that Cody Thomas passed him on the depth chart?

I doubt it. I think it means that Trevor is in the same class as Baker and has already redshirted, so there is no "waiting his turn."

Considering where he was a little less than two years ago, he's fallen a ways. But Baker is just a better player.

You're right...again. Trevor's a great kid, great player....don't blame him a bit.

Kyle Allen wanting to transfer to OU. He was Mark Andrews QB in high school. Texas Ags is saying that he has been released to transfer.

Would welcome Kyle to the fold...rolls out the crimson carpet. He just needs the right offense fit.

Except for the last quarter of the OSU game last year I thought Thomas played well. Not as fast as Knight but a decent runner. Would be a good backup for next year and may improve. Wish Knight well.

Okie 70 Thomas had issues completing the simplest of passes. As bad as Knight played, Thomas might have played even worse

Cody needs more experience. The Coaches obviously see things in practice they like though. They had him slinging it early against Tech last year.

I saw him play pretty well against both Tech and KU and in the first half of the OSU game. Didn't he start like 6 for 6? And did not have the ridiculous pick 6's that Knight did (TCU, KState, Clemson). Clearly not as good as Mayfield but probably on par with most big 12 backups other than Baylor.

Cody look like the best QB in the spring game, last year. I think he could contribute and grow, given some 2nd string reps

If I recall...he struggled so against Tech we quit passing before halftime. Fortunately, we didn't need it. But the coaches let him do it...again..a sign of confidence.

Trevor is a great kid. Hate to see him go. He's going to regret not being able to wear a national championship ring if we win it all.

When we get to Bama maybe Knight can come in and have a repeat performance.
