Uh oh. Not a fake post. Velus changed his mind. Back in the USC column.

I'm not sure why we are supposed to be upset by the loss of this young man. Opinions vary whether he is a 3 or 4 star recruit and by his actions the last 24 hours I'm not sure how we would/could trust him to do what is expected/needed from him if he ever got to OU...

Broyles was five miles from OU and 65 from OSU.

Velus is 2,021 miles from Los Angeles and 775 miles from Norman. He's been committed to USC, but looking for quite a while. My guess is that maybe he got a Reggie Bush kind of a deal. Hard to live in L.A. on what a scholarship provides.

I'm surprised a Sooner fan is making such a moronic comment......maybe the kid would rather play and live in L.A. than beautiful downtown Norman.

I'm sure that's why Reggie went there. You tell me how any kid can afford to live anywhere close to school when he moves out of the dorm. Then remind me of you moronic irony. USC has to cheat for anyone who isn't from a wealthy family.

If you want to talk about which programs "pay" their players to come to their school which SC, never did with Reggie Bush even according to the corrupt NCAA, then check into the workings of the SEC where it is routine.

Well, you all have the ugly distinction of having a Natty title taken back (vacated) by the NCAA...I wouldn't crawl too high up on that horse. Just saying.

USC set the bar and then the SEC followed through. When you get caught red-handed, it's pretty common to blame somebody else's corruption.

So let me understand that, you say that USC boosters didn't pay for Reggie's parents' $400,000 home? And you never did explain to me how normal kids like mine, can afford to live close enough to USC without being in Watts, to go to school and live there. A great attempt to change the subject. Or perhaps you like to go ahead and take your own credit for being a moron.

Or maybe just a moronic post.

I don't have the time or inclination to educate you on the subect so instead of making these false accusations try reading the transcripts of the lawsuit filed against the NCAA by Todd McNair , Reggie's RB coach when he was attending SC...boosters had nothing to do with the case against SC and anyone with half a brain who followed the case knows that.

Just wondering. What PROOF is there that the SEC pays its players. Link please.

To be clear, Rountinely pays its players. There will always be exceptions in every conference but to make it a general statement is wrong thinking.

OK. I'm confused. You need to re-write this using commas in the appropriate places in order for me to understand. It almost appears that you are claiming that USC is innocent of paying the Bush family, and nobody would be that stupid unless he has already filed with election headquarters.

Where do you get your information......the Sooner Gazette?.....USC has never been accused of paying Reggie Bush or his step-father and mother....your ignorance is shocking! Oh, I get it, you're still pissed off at the beating you had to suffer at the hands of the Trojans in the 2005 BCS Championship Game...I almost forgot.

I'm not talking to this stuck fick.

Unless the NCAA gave back the two wins you all forfeited in 2004...screw you, and your gay *** football program.

Geez, what a nerve.

Breaking news. The BCS is dead.

Why are you guys wasting your time on Marty? (I see most of you guys aren't). He's obviously a young USC fanboy who isn't old enough to remember Reggie Bush.

Is there any particular significance to the use of psyc in your user name, or is that a matter of convenience?

But, let me help you. Apparently, the news has not yet reached Los Angeles. As a result of USC, its involvement with the Bush family via a sports agent, and the remarkable fact that a football player in college can afford a half million dollar home resulted in the forfeiture of two USC football games in 2004, the entire season in 2005, the loss of thirty scholarships over a three year period, and two year's probation. If USC was not involved in any of this, you need to inform the NCAA since they levied some rather harsh penalties. Then, you need to inform the Downtown Athletic Club that it was inappropriate that they stripped the Heisman Trophy from the innocent Reggie Bush. It just doesn't pay to be innocent in LA.

It's the general excuse by some to try and both explain and degrade anyone or anything that has success outside of OU athletics.

WTF... Come on guys, it's bad enough that OU lost the guy but seriously, the excuses of blaming SC for paying this guy is absolute unfounded. Jones has been committed to SC for quite sometime. The same blame game can and could be easily said as to why he 'flipped' and left SC for OU.

Gundy got in his ear and did the best he could, flipped him, and SC flipped him back. Broyles flipped at the last minute as well. Do you think that the 'boosters' handed Broyles a bag of money?

Bottomline, is this class is an absolute dumpster fire. OU is in depserate need for a WR. Several LBs, and a DT. They've settled for JC LBs, lost their DT commit, and so far have been snubbed on this kid. But hey blame it on everything but OU. Even with this kid, OU would have barely cracked the top 20.

The only good news I see is the 2017 Class looks promising, at least better than this class and last year's class was at least solid considering the coaching changes.

Again, more dribble from the Sooner fanbase and btw, if you buy the crap the NCAA is selling then I would think you'd have something to say about the slaps on the wrist to programs like Miami, Ohio State and North Carolina just to name a few....SC never was, as you put it, "involved with the Bush family via a sports agent"....you don't know what the hell you are talking about.....when the NCAA settles out of court, because they can't stand further public ridicule and embarassment, then get back to me.

SoonerMike,
Can we lock and then pin this thread for 3 years? This way we can all read it again win we lose a playoff game and some blame it on the players or a lack thereof (like some just recently did). Then we can be reminded of what players each coach delivered.

I agree. I used to follow it more but now I find it to be a waste of time.
I'm the same. A complete waste of time to follow recruiting. The team we field is the team we field. I trust Bob and our coaches to get the best players they can and field the best team they can. We get what we get.

Yep, this recruiting **** is just a mine field!
It's totally emotional...friends turning on one another. It sucks.

In fact, I'm gonna expurgate myself a little more until signing day is over.
I'm not working anymore...got a lot of free time.
It just won't be good for me to immerse myself into the fray.

Not to mention pissing off a bunch of folks that I like. It aint worth it.

Gonna go to more chicken fights and stay out of it.
