It's now confirmed that Kentucky will be one of the select teams featured in NBA 2K26. I wish EA was making the full experience, but I can't lie, I am pumped to be able to play as our boys in this game soon.
Yeah, this approach is deplorable, IMO, would have preferred EA, 2K is out of control with their VC options and suc, and there’s only going to ~40 teams. It's now confirmed that Kentucky will be one of the select teams featured in NBA 2K26. 2K is rough when it comes to the MyPlayer and MyTeam modes but as someone who just plays singleplayer, I have never spent a single penny on a microtransaction in the game and still have found plenty of fun to be had. I hope it has some sort of March Madness mode even if it's condensed.Yeah, this approach is deplorable, IMO, would have preferred EA, 2K is out of control with their VC options and suc, and there’s only going to ~40 teams.
EA originally came out and said they were. 2K wanted exclusive rights and EA ended up backing out. So now we are getting a small sample of college teams added to 2K26 and the rumors are saying a more full featured 2K College Hoops game next year.I’m confused. I thought they were making an entire new game for College Bball. That’s not the case?
This is incorrect. 2K didn’t ask for exclusivity. EA was prepared to make a full college basketball game featuring every program, both the men’s and women’s Division I, but would only agree to do it if EA obtained a long-term exclusivity agreement. 2K was willing to also make college basketball game and stated they could make it earlier since they already have an existing engine for it. 2K’s rollout plan would begin by essentially offering a few programs at first by using downloadable content. Then, they would monitor feedback before doubling the amount of programs before the next release. They would continue these increases until they have executed a complete experience.EA originally came out and said they were. 2K wanted exclusive rights and EA ended up backing out. See my above post. I’ve been following this very closely and a lot of people are misunderstanding the situation.2k ruined this. People were excited for a full college basketball video game and here comes 2k. I think they are going to have like 10 college teams. Who cares about that.
I want a real CBB game where I can start at a low school make the tournament and work my way up. Recruiting, transfers, all the things the football game has.
I’m not buying 2k so I can play with *insert any amount of teams*. If they are testing engagement there is a good chance they never make a full game because no one wants to play with only a few teams. The whole experience and excitement of college basketball centers around recruiting, Cinderellas, and march madness. EA was willing to make the game for sure given a few years and they already have the college football system so a lot of the off the court stuff is done.See my above post. I mean no disrespect to you —- if you hate 2K, you’re allowed that opinion. I’ve been playing college basketball video games regularly for about 30 years. I can tell you that EA getting college basketball games would have been a bad thing. If you don’t care about realism, you have ways of playing with updated rosters today. 2K is going to give you a chance to play with teams that feel more immersive and that’s what I’m here for.I’m not buying 2k so I can play with *insert any amount of teams*. I don’t hate 2k I just have no interest in buying the game to play with 10 college teams. EA did fine with the football game so I have no clue why they wouldn’t be able to make a basketball one.I mean no disrespect to you —- if you hate 2K, you’re allowed that opinion. EA sucks *** lmfao. They literally got ran out of the basketball market by 2k. NBA live 10 was the last good EA basketball game. And then 2k responded with 2k11. The rest is history. It's now confirmed that Kentucky will be one of the select teams featured in NBA 2K26. I wish EA was making the full experience, but I can't lie, I am pumped to be able to play as our boys in this game soon.
NCAA basketball 10/live 10 was solid. From a gameplay and presentation perspective/graphics. Fun arcade style games, that were just dumb fun. But 2k8 is the goat. 2k has always focused on depth and simulation. college hoops 2k5 and 8 still get heavy playtime from me on my PC. The gameplay in 2k8 plays like real college basketball too. They were terrible.
Colle hoops 2k8 or whatever was epic. The selection show was top notch. Gumble would even give nuggets the next season if UK won the title prior year. "UK looking for their 9th national title and back to back after winning it all last season" or something similar.
Dude, there haven't been EA basketball games in like 15 years. What a wild thing to compare something to and expect it to be the same a decade later.Have you played EA’s basketball games?

The thing people miss on these discussions is that EA would be several years away from a release anyway. Also, they have historically made awful college basketball games.

Wrong. EA made an NBA game in 2019…and it was predictably trash. I’m not hating on you and I understand that most people don’t play basketball video games all the time. I do. I’m very well informed on the subject and have created my own custom rosters with detailed precision for years. Trust me, if you care about quality, you don’t want EA making it. By the way, 2K did not demand an exclusive license—EA did. The reason EA wants exclusivity is because they will get decimated by 2K and anyone who cares about this stuff knows that.Dude, there haven't been EA basketball games in like 15 years. If 2k ever makes a full college basketball game, I will play it, but I have doubts that will ever happen.Wrong. EA made an NBA game in 2019…and it was predictably trash. Greatest basketball game ever created was "Double Dribble " for the NES !!!
