More of the same so far. Shelby on 3rd and consecutive strikeouts. Hairston and Shelby are complete dead weight at the plate.

We've been tot he plate 3 times... 5 strikeouts. The guy pitching is the Arky closer (or has the most saves). We should see the bats come alive as this game goes deeper. We'll see if our guys actually respond. So far we've failed to get a hit.

Backs gets back to back doubles to score first here in the top of the 4th. The way UK hits that might be enough to win this one.

We're now down 1-0 with a man on second and no outs and i feel like we've already lost.

2-0 Ark in top of the 4th. Arkansas scored a runner on second base for the second run by simply hitting two ground balls to advance him. If only UK could consistently put it in play and avoid K's with RISP.

The guys that put up the Ks at the field in away games must love when we come to town. They get to do so much! We're at 7 strikeouts through 4 innings in today's game. Shelby the last victim struck out looking with a runner on first and two outs. The good news is that we won't be no hit for the second day in a row.

This is getting serious. Most of our lineup is completely inept offensively. Shelby and Hairston and McNeill cannot hit a breaking ball, they strike out every single time. It's pathetic to watch.

Just tuned in, it is painful to watch Javon Shelby bat, I feel really bad for him. He seems to have gave up the ghost. Why is Doc playing again today, after not even getting in at Louisville ?

The problem is... who the hell else are you going to play? Carson is hitting .095 in league play. Wilson is hitting .212, so he is struggling. No one really out there is capable of hitting with consistency except for Reks. That is unbelievably sad and hilarious. Reks is the guy that gave up baseball at Air Force, transferred to Kentucky and then the staff talked him into playing for us. He's actually better than the guys that we've recruited and developed.

As awful as UK is at the plate right now, pretty good chance they get swept on the weekend to a previously scuffling ARK club. Will they eventually play themselves out of the NCAA tournament conversation?

And now Shelby makes an error on a routine play. What exactly does he do well at this point?

We will have to see. Right now we're about 7th in the SEC. That's not too bad. If we lose both today we could drop as far as to 9th. I am not sure that we coul drop much further than 9th or 10th. It is possible, but Missouri, Tennessee, Auburn, and Arkansas all have just 5 wins in the SEC at this point. So, they have a long way to go to get to 10 wins to get ahead of us. Still, we have some tough games going forward. I think if we continue to play like this it could be pretty close.

IMO having Shelby play third was a poor decision, but it kind of goes to showing just how inept Henderson is. We really don't have a third baseman. In fact, I don't know that we've had a true third baseman since Thomas McCarthy in 2012. Maybe Max Kuhn was one as well. Still doesn't feel like we've recruited that position well at all.

By the way, this is a short game. We're only playing 7. The idea of playing a double header on Saturday because you miss Thursday is stupid. They should then just make it a regular series. Knowing that this is a short game makes me more pissed off. UK is facing a guy who is not a starter. He's pitched no more than 5.1 innings. Those were the last two weekends where he gave up 5 runs and 4 runs. Today he is going to go his longest outing of the year and at this point he's only given up 1 hit and no runs to this point.

Got to have two here in the bottom of the 7th in order to keep from losing this series. It makes me very mad to say that.

McNeil starts the inning off striking out. That's now 7 strikeouts for Kentucky. Mahan gets a bloop double. Shelby cuts on a 3-0 count and ends up striking out. 8 strikeouts, a new season high for Jackson. Marshall walked and the ball got past the Arky catcher to move up Mahan and put runners on the corners. Hairston at the plate works a 3-2 count. Hairston then draws a walk as Jackson throws one short into the dirt. Pompey flies out to center to end the UK threat.

Just two hits by UK, both by Mahan. Pitiful game by Kentucky.

There has to be something really wrong with that team. Why are they all the sudden inept?

Man do we miss Brian Green as our hitting coach. We were always at least a team that could score runs, gave up too many, but we had a much better plate approach under him.
Our pitching is plenty good enough to win, just cannot hit right now !!

Stop the presses. UK avoids going an entire series without a run, as they finally score one in game 3.

Anyone notice the change in the official UK Baseball Twitter account this weekend? Trying to get cute and be funny, on the weekend they are laying an absolute egg.

The mans a good recruiter but a terrible coach.

I am still not convinced he is a good recruiter. In the past we have gotten some good recruits, many of them probably because of Brad Bohannon and not because of Henderson. However, a good recruiter also has to se what kind of team we want to build and recruit to get to that type of team. That is not something we do. We just seem to recruit some good kids but with little to no vision on what kind of team we actually want to build.
