is this the biggest non conference home series in UK history next weekend? Both top ten teams. Tech is 13-0 and UK is 11-1 before their mid week games. Second question- why the hell did UK schedule two week day games before for the series this week? Will that affect our bullpen?

Harper and Schaenzer need to step up big and give us some solid outings so we can avoid the pen as much as possible. Marshall, Keen and Bringhurst could all give us an inning or two possibly. And anyone coming out of the pen for less than a couple innings on Tuesday will be good to go by Friday. Good chance to give our depth a test. If the bats stay hot, it won’t matter to much.

Can't remember one bigger, midweek games are Eastern and Northern, can't imagine we will wear out our bullpens even in the unlikely event that the games are close

Well I know EKU beat ranked Virginia on the road in late February. Virginia won the series, but I guess they are good enough that the Cats better show up motivated.

So, I couldn't find any stats on Texas Tech's website. Not sure I've ever ran into that before.

NCAA has a full set including rankings by stat. Looks like they have a really good pitching staff. As of 3/1, they are #1 in the nation in ERA and shutouts. #3 in triples, #4, in On base %, #6 in BB, It doesn't look to me like they had not played anyone in those stats but they played #15 South Alabama this weekend and took 4 from them, some by lopsided scores (8-2, 14-2).

What is the best NCAA Division 1 ranking service? I just realized that I don't remember which ones are any good and they are all over the place in terms of the rankings.

I think the Baseball America poll is probably the best. Worst seems to be the NCBWA poll.

It's very interesting that Tennessee Tech is always a top 5 team for home runs. Like every year, or so it seems. Not sure if it's because they play in a favorable park or what.

Think the dimensions for Tenn Tech's stadium is about 330 down the lines and 360ish in the gaps.

Yep, that's about right. Not a huge stadium. Still, they are there almost every year. UK has a small stadium, but I guess they face much better pitching.

The latest NCAA stats is up through 3/4. Texas Tech isn't #1 in ERA. If their field is so small, the fact that they are #1 in triples is surprising. Maybe they have some strange outfield feature that makes triples more possible (like a jutting wall, gopher holes, or maybe ivy on the walls.

Not Texas Tech, Tenn Tech is who has the small field. Morehead States is something like 280 down the line in right. Seemed smaller when we played there.

Texas Tech also has short fences down the lines. 330 down both.

I think about half of those triples came on the road.

Yea. Maybe some very small colleges don't have stat pages, but it's strange for a top 5 team not to.

I wanted to see each of their pitchers and get a good grasp of what we would be facing.
Me too, even the bad teams show their stats. I know this weekend will be a challenge, on a side note TTU's ast. head coach's family is from here in our county, he will have about a dozen kinfolk at each game this weeked, He is J Bob Thomas

Go to their website and the stats are under the media tab.

They have some impressive stats, but then so do we. Looks like their starters usually only go 5 or 6 innings, breaking them in early, not to over use their arms.

On the NCAA stats site, you can click on the pitchers listed in the individual section and see a bit about them. I found a site, the baseballcube that seems to have some data on them. Looks like their pitching is largely right handed. They list 4 start from left handers who only pitched a total of 13.4 innings. They have 8 starts from three righthanders for 43.1 innings. They have one start from a guy whose throwing arm was not listed. The ERA of the right handers is very low (1.69, 0.60, 1.46). The left handers were 4.05, 6.75, 0.0 (only 2.1 innings).
