Seems extremely high. In comparison, UNC Bahamas trip cost $154,825.91. Our boys must have been living luxuriously. I wouldn't have it any other way though, I guess.

"Expense reports acquired through a Courier-Journal open-records request show that in addition to its own travel, UK paid for the flights, meals and lodging for all three teams it faced. It is believed to be the first time a college basketball program has ever gone to such lengths for an exhibition series."

It makes your think that if we were paying those professional teams, were they really that bad, or were they taking it somewhat easy since they knew they were getting paid? We smoked the teams we played with the exception of one game.

Tommy Turtleneck has subsidized several Lil Brother bowl trips by offering $50 trips for fans..losing hundreds of thousands of dollars..Strange the Curious Journal has never reported that...

I believe Kentucky also stayed longer than any of the other teams that played down there.

It's not cheap to pay for everything for pro teams...

I can't even begin to imagine what a $1,550 per night hotel suite is like. I once went on a trip with a team and got a $150 hotel room (peak season rate was double that) in a place that wasn't a huge tourist destination and thought I was big pimpin'
. Hotel room probably would have been triple that if it had been in a tourist hot spot.

A $150 a day meal plan? I used to get $50 if that and I was pocketing mad cash by getting dollar menu food. I could have gotten rich being a UK manager LOL

That's a lot less than the new new players dorm is expected to cost.

How much do smaller football schools get paid to play at BAMA, OSU, FLA, etc. for 1 game? UK was in the Bahamas for a week. If it helps us win 9, who cares. Cal learned how to operate a TV camera. For that alone, it was worth watching. ESPN / SEC network played all of the games. Mainly cause they hate us but figured they could make money off of UK basketball and BBN would watch. GBB

After the Dick Vitale story and now this, the CJ is REALLY throwing crap at a wall and hoping it sticks for anything negative on UK.

Its more surprising to me that UNC spent so little, guess all the $$ they are paying PR firms is taking a toll.

Kentucky spent a little over half of what it makes in one home game on an exhibition tour that happens once in 4 years. Everyone freak out!

How much did we make from tv rights? Not to mention, did we do any revenue sharing with the other teams or did we just pay for a great vacation/practice session for them? I'm pretty sure ESPN ended up paying for everything if you want to look at it that way.

$0 on the television rights to Kentucky. ESPN probably didn't make any money on the games due to the high production costs and having to float in the camera equipment and a satellite truck. Still low cost programming for them however so worth it.

Yawn.... Nothing more to see here.

UK offset some costs by providing flights, lodging and tickets for 57 UK boosters who donated $6,000 apiece, contributing a total of $347,047.30. UK also received $17,962.28 in ticket revenue. Even with those adjustments, the final expenses were $431,836.10, nearly three times more than North Carolina's entire trip.
The trip then did NOT cost UK $792,845. But you have to read the actual details buried inside the article to find the bottom line.

Feels good to know this is the best hit job the CJ can produce. They could probably do a little better if they weren't so busy hiding UL's shenanigans.

The trip did cost $792K...it's just that UK was able to offset those costs as detailed.

UNC played 2 games in 2 days, Kentucky played 6 games over 8 days. Don't buy into the biased media's ********. Kentucky's athletic department is self sufficient and even donates money to the school. This is a non story.

Why doesn't the Courier Journal spend more time open-record-ing the arrests of UofL football players and report on that

I think it is a lot of money, but the f-ing CJ won't touch the YUM center. I guess if UL can shake down the city of Louisville to the tune of $9 million a year then we can take a once in a lifetime $800K trip that really only cost $400K.

Seriously. Stayed there a couple weeks after UK was down there, and buffet for 2 was about $140. $150/day for food is about right at Atlantis (assuming you eat at the resort and don't go over the bridge to the city).

LOL...an open records request for an expense report about a UK basketball trip last summer?

Just more clutter, IMO. Doesn't really matter.

They made $700K off an extra home game and had some cash leftover on the budget from the Canadian trip.

It's UK. They spent lot's of money. Not like nobody else does.

Dumbass CJ writer needs to spend some time investigating what UL spends in covering up for criminals. (If Jurich lets him)
