Seems each year Adidas has had something new for us but I don't recall any hype this year, did i miss it? i'd like to see a black chrome helmet this year opposed to the flat one. but most importantly i'd just prefer wins baby, no matter what they wear

Well I'd be willing to bet at least a dime to a green @$$ed fly that they will have some red, white and black in them. And I'd make that same bet that some of our fans will be up in arms over whatever the uniforms turn out to be. It is just the way it is and there isn't anything we can do about it. I'll be there and be cheering for whatever they show up in at game time. Just sayin'.

They will be wearing a new red helmet not chrome, with a black facemask and that ugly Old English L for at least one game.

I would like for someone, anyone to give a name(s) of any recruit that chose a particular school because of their uniforms/helmets. Puleeze . . . . . Or even better, a school that has lost fans over their choice of uniforms. My point here is that any of us can choose to like or dislike what the players are wearing but if the effect is so great that you quit being a fan of "your" school then I would have to say that you weren't ever a fan in the first place. Well, unless you are a person that chooses the horse to bet on because of the colors the jockey is wearing . . . . . :p;):)

I'm just saying that we need to sell our brand, i. e. White helmet w/cardinal vs saying "hey everybody, look at us!!! We have new stuff!!!"

I thought we were big time now and didn't need gimmicks.

But what do I know. After all, the helmets are getting us all kind of 4 and 5 star players.

Go Cards! Beat Purdue!

I read something a few months ago on the impressions that college athletes have of various schools/programs. Near the top of our list was our unis.

Which sounds to me like they're having the desired effect. My guess is that message board posters aren't much of a factor in that process...

You read a National article about various D1 programs that happen to use Louisville as an example or did you read a local article from TCZ?

"Perhaps most interesting is that recruits were then asked if a school’s uniform will impact their college decision – 31 responded “Very False” to that statement, while 24 said “Moderately False,” 26 said “Moderately True,” and just 7 said “Very True”"

The majority of these recruits said Unis don't really matter.

I recently read an article were Louisville was NOT high on the list...

"Unsurprisingly, the runaway winner was Oregon, which garnered 60 votes as having the best uniforms. The next highest were Baylor (8), TCU (6), Maryland (5) and Florida State (5)."

I don't recall exactly, but it was probably a list of factors applying to us specifically, not nationally.

It's not that important, just like this subject...

If it's not that important (and I mostly agree with that) why do we do it?

Why do we jack with uni's every year...if it's not that important?

:p ;) :D

I just we had a brand (helmet) that people would say "That's Louisville" without having to look at the scoreboard to see who's playing. Like Michigan, Mich St, tOSU, Wisconsin, USC1, Tenn, UGA, TX, and all the other big boys.

But I know. All our 5 star recruits love it so I can't argue about it ;)

How about a Lamar Red Tux uniform edition. Red velvet top with a black V shape and bow tie...Black helmets of course, black patent leather shoes, black pants with a satin strip down the side...For the Clemson game to remind them who won the Heisman.

I didn't mean it's not important to anyone. It's apparently pretty important to players and recruits. It oughta be important to the apparel companies since their names are on them.

Beyond that, I have a hard time getting worked up about unis. I enjoy when they get unveiled, but not because they have great importance to me personally. And whether I like 'em or not, they're gonna change pretty soon anyway. Doesn't pay to take them too seriously...

But here's the deal. Louisville is not a football brand / blue blood with an iconic look like the "big boys" you mentioned above. And that's ok!! We shouldn't try to be something we're not. And since we're not tied down to an iconic look, that gives us room to sport new and different looks whenever we want. And kids love that!! We can be more like Oregon and sport new badass looks that really pop. And THAT can be what folks think about when they think about Louisville. The future of football, not the past...

That said, it means we will NEVER have an iconic look.

Say we beat Bama with silver helmets, then win the opening FF game with black chrome, then the NC with Grey matte.

What's our look? What's our brand? We'll still look like wannabes from CUSA.

And as I've sarcastically pointed out, name one (1) BIG time recruit we've ever gotten because of "cool" helmets.

I'll be there if they wear clear plastic raincoats with red jocks, but it ain't our brand.

But....if we keep winning in them it will be :D

As far as fancy uni's, it seems the fad is fading quickly in Oregon. ;)

Look at the top programs such as Alabama, Clemson, Michigan, Penn State, etc. Those schools don't change unis every time you change the calendar. We want to climb to that height and maybe a basic red, white. black trim for home games and white with red and black trim for road gameswould be a good wardrobe. I'm old school, but then I'm old. Just sayin.

I get what you are saying Florida Card but the truth is as much as i want our brand or program and logo to be a household name I feel it might not ever be,I live here in Sioux Falls and people always think that I am wearing the Arizona Cardinals or the St Louis Cardinals when I wear my gear.Plus even though our Logo is trademarked there is a High school that uses out old English L as their logo. And there is a college in Nebraska that uses our Cardinal head but turns it backwards.I think that it is fun to see new things from time, I wish we could have some throw back uniforms like the one Miami is going to wear this year.I would like to see the uniforms we smoked Alabama in at the fiesta bowl next year when we play them.:)

Wyoming actually uses the "Pistol Pete" logo ( if you've never seen it, it's a mustachioed cowboy pulling a six shooter) under agreement with Oklahoma State, where it originated. Its actually based on a real guy named Francis Eaton. I think UGA does the same thing with the Packers, using their "G" logo. Anyway, U of L should license the logo. If you can't beat 'em, tax 'em.

I'm a traditionalist. I like "LOUISVILLE" across the front of our jerseys, Cardinal bird on the helmet, red jersey with white pants at home and all white on the road. Alabama does not change their iconic "A" on the side of their helmets and if we want to be Alabama then we have to act like Alabama. I've said it before and I'll say it again, regardless of stupid polls, kids choose a school based on that school's success, conference and coaching staff. Period. Pretty simple. Yeah, locality does play into the decision but for UofL it's far more the things mentioned above.

it may not bring a kid here per se, but it seems when they new uni's do come out the players are super psyched about it. and i can understand about psu, alabama, and the like being old school, but they've won in those old school uni's so i bet there's a boatload of superstition going on at those schools. they'll never change for fear of not winning in the new uni's. they use the rationalization they are old school and don't need updated uni's but in reality, i bet it's 00% superstition. who among us wouldn't wear the same thing if you had good luck in that outfit. how about we win a tile and whatever uni's we are wearing during that game we keep forever.

Super psyched in FB lasts until the first hit.

It's obvious we are going to continue to act like we're still CUSA so I'll learn to live with it.

Like the guy told the band when they asked for requests, just play one you all know.

Let's pick a brand and make people know it when they see it.

Mmm, lets see, Ohio St, Florida, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Norte Dame. Those are some of the most traditional powers in college football and they vary from their traditional looks quite often these days
