Unfortunately, I’m going to be at work and can’t watch. I’ve been at a new job since May and can’t sneak away and watch on my phone like I used to.. 😂 I’m turning my phone off and watching a replay when I get home at midnight.

I personally think we win by double digits, I rarely gamble but thinking about putting up a little bit on the Cats tomorrow night.

road team is always underdog when the teams are closely ranked. plus we have looked pretty bad 2 out of the last 3 games.

I’m not saying that we shouldn’t be the underdog, what I’m saying is that I’m confident that we are that much better than UL. We’ve played some good and bad basketball so far but we look better than UL, I’ve watched both teams play all their games this year.

I have no idea if we win or not - haven't watched even 2 seconds of UL play this year. Would love to see IL Wildcat's side-by-side analysis!

I’ve watched a fair amount of Louisville so far, both exhibitions and official games. Here’s what I would advise our fans of —- their guards are terrifying. They are extremely quick on the perimeter, everyone can pass and everyone can shoot. Their bigs haven’t shown me anything that would cause nightmares, however.

Whether or not we win the game will come down to three very basic things:

1.) Can we play disciplined defense at every position on the perimeter? If so, their guards have a tendency to take bad shots at times. If not, we will be stuck in a perpetual state of being one rotation behind and that’s not something we can recover from with their elite speed.

2.) Can we offset the difference in perimeter firepower by dominating the paint? Brandon Garrison, Malachi Moreno, Mohamed Dioubate, etc. need to control the boards and ensure Louisville isn’t getting additional possessions, as offensive rebounds will lead to open three point shots and that will bury you quick.

3.) Probably the most important —- can we limit the turnovers? For many of our players, this will be their first true road game in an extremely hostile environment. Also, Louisville plays a very aggressive, high pressure defense and will be trying to force turnovers. If we turn the ball over, their speed and passing will dismantle us quickly. This would also cause us to be stuck in a cycle of playing against Halfcourt defense, where our handle has been somewhat shaky.

I really hope I am wrong, but I lean with Louisville taking this one. I expect we will have a few untimely turnovers, miss a few pressured free throws and fail to defend their perimeter attack enough to win. I expect Moreno to eat Khalifa for breakfast while he is in the game but I don’t think we will win because Moreno will also miss important free throws. Garrison isn’t going to play bully ball and that’s what we’d need more of to win this game.

Louisville 86, Kentucky 81

:( I really hope I’m wrong

What are the weaknesses you saw in UL?

Not sure why it's a surprise that LoL is favored. It's early, at their place, and this isn't Kenny Payne's LoL. Kelsey is a midget and a douche, but he's doing a good job compared to his predecessors (I still think he's overrated, especially by some of the national media folks who try to hype him up more than Pope). They've got some great shooters and they'd also sacrifice life and limb to win this game compared to any other on their schedule (just ask their wacko fans). In comparison, we have a starting PG that IMO doesn't look 100%, we've looked out of sorts on offense at times, and we're also without JQ who should be a big force for us (we shall see). That being said, we CAN win this game, but we shouldn't be favored.

No matter the outcome, I would advise everyone to remember that it's the second week of November and the third game of the season. The sky isn't falling if we lose (though I'm sure some certain Anon accounts will try to gaslight us into believing that it is). We also aren't going undefeated if we win. The truth is somewhere in the middle (and I choose to believe that this team is closer to really good than really bad when 100% healthy). Of course I want a win, especially against these guys, but at the very least I want us to be competitive and come out of this game with no more injuries, no cheap shots on Lowe's shoulder and no worsening of that injury, and no suspensions when Pryor and those other goons try to bait our guys into taking a swing on them.

We really need Garrison and Moreno to have big games. The Cards inside game is their weakness.
Agree with this. We should definitely score down low and in the paint at a good clip. We need to make 7-10 3s and we win. We will out rebound them as well. Cards fans not only believe they are better than us with starters but I’ve heard several also say their bench is deeper. Delusion at its best, tomorrow we put them in their place.

So stupid to be playing this game this early...and on a Tuesday night...What was the reasoning behind this decision? Whatever it was I hope it doesn't happen again.

Kentucky has the defenders and the depth to guard any college back court in America.
I like the good guys in this one.

I hope that we can be rational if a close loss occurs. If we play pretty well and fall short, I hope fans will consider that this is the first true road game and we are only going to get better with JQ on the way and a healthier Lowe/Noah around the corner. It truly is a coin flip game and I don’t think we have much to lose. If you do somehow win this game, I can’t see a lot of losses on our schedule. If you lose, we are no different than other great teams in recent history with regards to a non-con loss. 2003 team lost to a subar Louisville team. 1998 dropped one to the Cards, before turning into legends. 1996 lost to an excellent UMass team before kicking Cal’s rear when it mattered most. I fully believe we have the makings of a GREAT team, win or lose in this one.

I'm on midnight shift and have to work a double through dayshift. Don't think I won't find a way to get some rest so I can watch the game 😅.

Definitely not “always” but the Georgetown and Nicholls games definitely have an effect. Add that with it being at Louisville with what will likely be a rowdy crowd and super hyped up team off that energy, it’s gonna be interesting to see how the cats can respond to it all
That'll get bet down quickly.
goijg the other way actually. -4.5 at the moment

I worry with it being so early in the season and Louisville playing so hyped up in this one from finally having a team and being at their place. I can’t see anything other than them playing out of their minds and our guys not being ready for that just yet. Add in our free throw shooting issues minus last game and I think we might drop this one. Home court and the crowd will have be a big factor in this one
