US Fighter pilots shortchanged in Masters of Air

Yeah, know a bomber series but from January to May American fighters removed 1000 German fighter pilots KIA, wounded. Many leading Squadron leaders killed. This made D-Day possible. I hosted aces from 56FG, 4FG, 357FG , 352FG, 354 FG at air combat symposiums. Had other FGs aces as speakers but these were the top fighter groups as far as aerial victories.

P-51 being introduced was also huuuuge. Messerschmit’s couldn’t deal with them.

Doolittle ordered FG to turn loose the fighters , hunt the Hun down to the treetops. Mustang 51-B models saved daylight bombing , had more kills per 100 sorties than P-47 or P-38.

I think most Americans today have become so very disconnected from the cost of war - that series reminds us of how insignificant human life was in that war.
