Typical US Open. Narrow fairways, brutal rough and insanely fast greens.

+8 winning score?

And under USGA guidance, Rabideau and his Winged Foot greens team have been responding to ‘What will be the four-round total?” with replies of: “Plus eight! Plus eight!

“A plus 8 winning score would cap a very difficult summer, and my guys know that’s what I’ve been thinking.

“Basically, the one thing we have left is showcasing Winged Foot, showcasing the golf course.

“That’s been driving us to make this one of the hardest U.S. Opens they will ever play.”

Jeff Hall, and the USGAs managing director of rules, added: “We’re going to let Winged Foot be Winged Foot”.

I like JT with what I think is the best chipping game on tour right now even though I don’t think he drives it great at times . Everyone is gonna have a lot of uncomfortable shots around the greens.

A lot of good golfers with single digit handicaps wouldn‘t break 100 playing from the back tees, playing it down, putting it out, in those US Open conditions.

Are you just pulling these names or are they better suited for the course? What type of player is suited to this course, driving accuracy, putting?

Well, looking at the rough ive seen you have to drive it well. Just looked down the list and i like those guys. Nothing real specific as its a crapshoot anyway picking winners.

It's hard to trust him when the pressure is on, but Brendon Todd could have a real shot. Has been playing well, one of the most accurate drivers on tour, and putting has been pretty good. That rough is going to negate all of the bombers if they cannot get in the fairway.

Would success at Memorial translate to this course?
Trying to look at comparator events to pick some guys for my pool.

Going with DJ. Just playing too well and has the length with a driving iron to keep it in the fairway.
