Never would've happened in the 2000's. It's not just a poor coaching hire that put them in this position. It's primarily the drop from the BCS/Power conference level. This is what terrifies me for WVU when it comes to conference affiliation.

ECU is another good example of a casualty to the conference realignments. While the Pirates were never in a Power 5/BCS conference, they still fielded competitive teams every so often. Since the last realignment however they have taken a big step back.
