The Thoroughblades and the Horsemen were always a good show, but hardly anyone attended after the novelty wore off. I hope this goes well.

Was getting ready to post this. Sets up for a Louisville vs Lexington rivalry. Going to be fun.

One thing USL has in works is a relegation and promotion system from USL One to USL Championship. So, if Lexington does well, could play vs Louisville on routine basis.

Having solid core group of supporters has been pretty critical to Louisville. Can make or break a team.

At minimum, suspect they will play routine friendlies with Louisville and Cincy.

Especially early season, USL has a pretty good spot only going head to head with baseball. Could work out in Lex

I like the team name idea that someone texted into KSR this morning, Kentucky FC.

Speaking of which, if we're gonna have an actual soccer team in Lexington, it's only appropriate we have a right proper hooligan firm to match!

Get the US Open Cup tournament going full tilt again....maybe Lexington FC could advance amongst the USL and MLS2 lower levels, then play Lou City along the way.....maybe get a shot at FCC?

Sad you can't appreciate the skill the game takes. Not boring at all if you value that.

Just wondering…if a team has the ball on offense and is trying to pass the ball forward, why don’t all the defensive players just run in the opposite direction? Won’t that cause the offensive player to be offsides? The game is truly boring to me.

I appriecate the skill level that Bob Ross has in making little trees, but I am not going to subject myself to 30 minutes of torture and watch his show.

I actually hope the team name is horse racing related, it's what we're known for and I like when we embrace it.

I think Louisville's Women's Soccer team picked a great name with Racing Louisville FC. A nod but not over the top.

My biggest complaint with US pro soccer names is there an obsession with stealing Euro names. Louisville City is Louisville City because they got their name from Orlando City who took their name from Manchester City. There is also a Real Salt Lake for some reason. DC United.

Since Louisville is Louisville City, my bet is Lexington is Bluegrass United or some **** and then we act like it’s Manchester United vs Manchester City.

In terms of soccer, a lot of US fans, especially if they grew up around American football don’t get it. But also there’s a reason it’s the most popular sport in the world. Grew up in big football family, never thought I’d be a soccer fan, but LouCity is ALMOST on same level as being a UK fan to me. Think Lexington can also benefit from a UK pipeline. LouCity has had a couple UK guys over years.

Good lord. Girls/women's fast pitch softball is about as bad as it gets. Talk about boring as hell. Put me to sleep in the Olympics watching those 2-0 and 2-1 games.

You can dislike it if you like , but its fast paced as heck , that's what draws people. Watch some college for good ball. And FWIW many games in the olympics were high scoring.

Given the youth soccer spurge in Lex/surrounding, this might do well for a while, but at the end of the day, it is soccer......which sucks.
Youth soccer is for anyone who dislikes contact. Just try getting a D1 soccer free ride and be from Lexington.

It will stick in Lexington. Lexington has an intense soccer community and it’s been that way for many years.

If the offensive player is onside WHEN THE BALL IS PLAYED, he's onside, regardless of what the defense does, offensive player must have two defensive players between him and the goal beyond midfield, which includes the goalie.

Just seeing this. Vs. baseball, more entertaining. First, scores are lower in part because they're 7, not 9 innings. 2nd, no time wasting holding runners on. Games over in an hour or so. And, not all games are that low in scoring.
