USS Thresher (SSN-593) Another sad anniversary

I have been preoccupied with the Scott shooting here in the Lowcountry, but I would be remiss in not mentioning that today is the anniversary of the loss of the Thresher (April 10, 1963). 129 crew members and shipyard workers lost their lives on that day. The link recounted what happened on that day 52 years ago. I'd like to think that the improvements that came about due to that tragedy (notably SUBSAFE) keeps submariners today safer and better able to perform their duties.

The safeguards in place for many things now are amazing. There will always be incidents when the human equasion is involved. Heck, the machine still have many errors.

On another note GhostVol, did you here about the guy in Cane Bay who burned his house and hit the woods with a rifle? Right where I am building.

I did. Weird things happening in the Lowcountry. Charleston city cop commits suicide yesterday, now this thing in Cane Bay.
